Hello brewmates,

I'm a German homebrewer and actually staying for a week at Ball-Bay, close to Mackay.
Would be nice to meet some homebrewer around here and have some beer together.

Any place around here would be right, having my own car.

Suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Cheers Lothar

Hi Lothar

Am in Port Douglas (North of Cairns) managing resorts for another 4 weeks, how far up the coast are you travelling. We love Seaforth and Ball Bay, it is a beautiful area. The manager of the resort that we are looking after is currently holidaying at Seaforth.

Cheers

G'day Zwickel....
Are your travels taking you anywhere other than North Queensland? If so, I'm sure you will be able to find accommodating members in most areas of Oz.

BTW, If you are doing the rounds by car, you will have to go near/past Ross's at some stage. Given the accolades that have been dispensed in regard to his hospitality in another post, you could do far worse than giving him a shout, and seeing if you can catch up.

Enjoy the Bloody Hell out of your stay!

Hello Screwtop,

Monday we'll going to leave Ball-Bay north to Townsville, staying there for 2 days, then further up to Cairns, Port Douglas and Cooktown.

So, I don't know exactly what date and time we'll be in Port Douglas.

If there is any chance to meet, let me know.

Cheers Lothar

@mandrakar,

I passed by already Brisbane, flying back to Germany from Mackay via Sydney, so there is no more Chance to get south of Mackay.
Thanks for your hints.

Cheers lothar

I've posted something similar in another thread, however, when you get to Townsville you must got to the Brewery in Flinders Street mall. Thay have about 6 or 7 locally made beers on tap and they're awesome. So enjoy.

Cheers

Stephen - former Townsville boy!

I fully concur - Drinking the beer board up and down makes a great start to the night.

Thanks Lothar,

Managing a resort at 34 Macrossan St (Main St) Port Douglas until Apr 03, moving to manage another resort in Port Douglas from Apr 04. Let me know when you are getting close. Call into reception or phone, look forward to meeting a fellow brewer, unfortunately no homebrew with me here, and only Aussie megaswill on tap at most hotels. One local Hotel has Stella Artoir on tap. Noticed some Schneider Wiesse Hefe Weizen at one of the bottle shops here yesterday. Think FNQBunyip is from Daintree maybe he could join us for a beer. Will PM name of resort and telephone number.

Cheers

zwickel look up the gls saunders from the craftbrewers site he may even do a recording for the radio show as a roving reporting (he is in townsville)

Zwickel,

If you are looking for a decent bottle shop in Cairns, head north on your way to Port Douglas and turn left into the Smithfield Tavern which is the big roundabout at the base of the Kuranda range. Go the walk in shop around the back of the drive through and have a look, best in town.

Cheers - Brett (former Cairns lad).

Hello Duff and Jazman,

thank you very much for the hint, I'll have a lok at it.

Cheers
