Hi

I'm off to Launceston to visit one of the rellies that has moved down there this weekend...

Any good beer/ brewpubs worth checking out while I'm down there?

Danbeer,

I was in Launceston last weekend and found a nice little watering hole down at Seaport called MUD. It's more of a restaurant/bar, and a little bit flash (I was with SWMBO- Anniversary) but they have Leffe and Hoegaarden and a few others.

I wanted to do a tour of James Boags Brewery...but they are closed on weekends!#%$

Do you beleive that with twice the amount of heads (read brains) down there, they cannot workout that tourists are generally around on weekends and not during the week?

By the way it was my 4th trip to Launceston and I have always enjoyed it.

Great Place. :)

I did the Boags tour when I was down there, well worth it. Other than that I really can't remember other spots.

Beaconsfield is just down the road and the journalists in town to buy miners stories may have left their gold cards behind the local bar. The pub at Beaty Point used to be a nice spot but probably only sells megaswill.

We arrived up on the hill having driven from the East coast. Decided to take a walk into the city. I smelled my way to the brewery following the malty sweetness. I took the tour and drank a mountainload of Boags Draught with the locals one night.

We were there in the Summer during a 26C heatwave and had a swim in the gorge. There's also a nice seafood place down by the river.

If you head north along the West Tamar there is a good pub at Rosevears (Rosevears Tavern).
Basically sits right on the water front and used to have good meals. It was a micro brewery many years ago, but I don't believe that's the case now.

Cheers

No. No brew pubs or micro's. Boag is it. Worth the $16 or whatever it is for the tour but that's about it. Sorry I can't offer more than that.

If you keep your eye open at some of the pubs you might be able to find some Moobrew beers.
