Never heard of it? In the wilds of freezing Siberia up a mountain?

Far from it, Sochi on the shores of the Black Sea is the only region of Russia that actually has a subtropical climate. Sochi sprawls along the coast, a bit like the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast and looking eerily like them in many ways. The hinterland rises up into the Caucasus Mountains for the skiing and outdoor events whilst the indoor venues are in a huge multibillion dollar complex down towards the border with Georgia. Millions of happy holidaymakers throng in Summer.

Once again, a place to visit if I ever crack Lotto. In fact I'd pass on the Sunshine Coast for a fascinating holiday in a place virtually unknown to outsiders.
