I wish they'd review the liquor laws up here in QLD. I'd love to give the tight arse homebrands a crack.

I haven't seen any good beers pop up in the 7 Day specials in ages, are they still doing that or just focusing on their own brands now?

I guess since they closed down the online liquor department they don't carry such a big range of imports any more. However they do get some interesting stuff instore like Coors 12 packs or the odd German. They even have VB in cans at the moment

I can't wait for Christmas, will be stocking up on Franziskaner mini kegs!

hmm, Coors 12 packs
I wonder if they could get Coopers 12 packs as well

You guys are going to love Storm Lager (lite)..

haha. The beer you drink if you like the idea of beer drinking but don't actually like beer. "Have a beer Clarrie?" "Jeez yeah Cedric, could go a cold one", cracks a Storm Lite "There's Monty over there, Hey Monty come and grab a frostie"... How's things down at the Bowls club? (Manly beer drinking commences...)

Seriously though Sainte Etienne is a bloody nice 4.8% Euro Lager with a fair upfront hit of Strisselspalt or something, it's made by the biggest Independent in Northern France and I reckon it craps all over Stella Artois, Oettinger, Carlsberg and Heineken put together. And only about $8.50 a six pack or less for a slab. It's my go to when I'm waiting for a couple of kegs to gas up.

edit: gotta love the typical Aldi label, priceless.

Can anyone on this forum explain to me why Coles,Woolworths and Aldi have to seperate alcohol sales from the main shopping area with a 2 metre wall?
Is this just Nanny state beurocracy,I cannot remember seeing a wall seperating alchol sales from the main shopping area in the Aldi near Melbourne university.
WA seems to pursue all these kinds of useless laws which to someone like me find hard to see the logic behind them.

Maby they were torn between selling ****ography or grog at the planning stage.

I think Victoria may be a bit different to NSW and ACT where Aldi liquor is in a walk in alcove next to register 1, and you can't check out liquor at any of the other registers.

In Victoria it looks like they just have an alcohol "wall" in the store.

WA is going to be the alcove design by the looks of it.

edit: so with Aldi there won't be a 2 metre "wall" and to get to the liquor area you have to go into the supermarket itself. I'd guess in WA that Woolies/BWS and Coles/LL have to be accessed through different doorways?

In NSW there is usually an archway between the supermarket and the liquor store with a separate entrance off the mall or street to the BWS etc, not so with Aldi.

Tweed Heads sells liquor if you are down that way.
