I only just found the option in beer smith about adding the malt after the boil. Most of my beers i make between 20-40 IBU but that is accidently having all my extract in the boil according to Beersmith when infact im using about a third of it. Ive always heard people saying 'relatively low bitterness at 25 IBU' etc and thinking to myself its pretty bloody bitter for 'low bitterness'. Turns out when actually checking the right boxes my IBU's are almost double what was expected. That being said, I love the bitterness of my beers so next time i make one with 25 IBU correctly im prolly gonna think its weak as piss. Just thought i would point this out incase others doing the same mistake i have been.

What I want to know is do any non-extract brewers ever split their boil and only put hops in half of the boil so that they don't have to use as many hops?
