Precisely why I always maintain a high speed to ensure airflow and frequent stops at country pubs to re hydrate.

In reality, the top of the line stuff has addressed these issues as best they can by using materials like gor-tex for moisture wicking and breathe-ability and Kevlar for abrasion resistance.
At a cost however - Klim Rally Jackets top out at around $2700 AUD, just for the jacket, mind you. Even BMW branded gear starts at around a grand.

Personally I believe a shock collar that triggers when you're riding like a ******* would be a more effective safety system. The lane splitting, Hyosung riding L plater who triggered the red light camera as he tore through a four way intersection this morning just as the adjacent right turning traffic was moving off would benefit greatly from such an innovation.

This guy....?

Dogs are smart. They know a ******** will soon be easy pickings. He just wants to get in early for the prime cuts.

Saw online last week pics of some knob coming off his bike at 112 kmh over in WA and the only top cover he had was a tee shirt, what a ********.
Saw an example of ingenuity here in Lincoln late last year where a young woman on her scooter had a bulldog clip holding her skirt hems together so no one got a cheap thrill.
I had a good laugh at the sight and practicality of it all.

Actually clothing is nice but coming off at speed then kerbs lamposts and poles and trees will kill you quicker.

The IOM TT shows you how to do it properly...

I'm not trying to be a dick, but does all the protective clothing (and helmets et.al.) allow you to risk-compensate more?

There was a guy in the UK who put an IR distance measurement sensor on his bicycle, such that the sensor pointed out into the lane next to him.
When he wore a helmet, car drivers passed him significantly closer. They were risk-compensating.

Interestingly, when he wore a long blond wig, they gave him more space.

If it does, you've got problems. Keep in mind that a $85 brain bucket helmet meets the same AS/NZS 1698:2006 safety standards as a flashy $1700 AGV Rossi replica.
Wear whatever level of protection you feel comfortable with, but, as noted by Tropical_Brews, when you decelerate a human being from triple figures to zero in a split second its a moot point anyway.

The first question a motorcyclist should ask is

Is my head worth $85 or $1850 ?

Personally , for me, it is the latter

And it depends on the head and helmet. Not all helmets fit all heads If it doesnt fit snugly around your jaw and cheeks and the back rises up then you may need to try a different manufacturer.

I am a SHOE head.

I've only got a $250 head so went A Bell MX9. Plenty of peripheral vision and ventilation. I've removed the peak however as it tends to grab the wind rip your head off at anything above 120.
Tending toward off roading more and more these days anyway. Lack of time aside, road riding has lost much of its charm for me over the years for a host of reasons. These days I find I'm riding faster not so much for the thrill, but so I can get to some country pub sooner.

Yes, those long days with sore aching wrists and hands, bugs, rain, sore ass, cops, ...was fun when young...

You can understand why older riders buy these.

That is one of the prettiest motorcycles going.
A torquey 1200 was just what it needed.

Beauty of course, is subjective.

I also think this to be a work of art for example. Some may find it offensive.

Grrrrrrr...
