So there's this guy who has been doing extract brewing with a few spec grains and decides to try doing partials with some Maris Otter etc and LDME.

Puts his very first two brews into the NSW State Comp.

His American IPA gets a first
American Pale Ale gets second

Now onto the Nats.

American Pale Ale gets best APA in Australia.

Well done Moodgett and may that be a lesson to all.

:super: :super: :super: :super:

It is well done. It can be like wine where the $100 plus bottle (where the grapes were grown on the 3rd and 4th rows on the eastern bank of the 3rd hill etc) is not as good as the $10 bottle down the road. A darn top beer is a darn top beer.

Cheers and a extra special thanks to Bribie.

I messaged him directly as I was scouring through different methods to get into partials and quite frankly I was getting a bit overwhelmed with water to grist ratio and the fact im doing 9LT partial boils, anyway he gave me a great base to work from, it was easy as and now I haven't looked back. even just used the same method for a mini all grain batch.

Cheers :D

Good work moodgett.
Wort production is one important aspect of brewing. Fermentation, sanitation, conditioning and packaging are all equally important.
To achieve accolades at both state and national level means you likely have all factors under control.

Great stuff moodgett and congratulations! :beerbang:

Little stockpots can be fiddly to work with, while just how to go about scaling or adapting a recipe as a partial mash often isn't obvious for novices, but the evidence suggests you're all over it like a rash. Likewise, as manticle suggests, the whole brewing process beyond the manufacture of wort requires mastery to excel at the state and national levels, so again, well done. :icon_cheers:

Thanks RdeVjun,

I guess being a ocd over processes does come in handy
Cheers :)
