:) just finished bottling my first brew in a long time , it's a Beligin larger extract (coopers) using a yeast culture from a 4 pack of hoeggarden wit beir the culture was started in light malt 3 days before fermenting and started bubbling away in the first day and took 3 weeks at 22-24 C , I got a FG of 1008 ,bulk primed with 180 g of dextrose desolved in boiling water , most are in glass (330 ml stubbies for convenience) but some are in the PET bottles i got with my kit (present) has a little cidery odor but not to unplesant will start tasting in about 2-3 weeks.

The Hoegaarden yeast can give you a decent beer.

But are you aware that they ad a different yeast when they bottle?

If you want a good white yeast from the bottle try La Trappe or a Schneider weisse, they bottle with the yeast from the primary fermentation

Welcome back to brewing though, hope the cider goes!

Yeah, Hoe yeast in the bottle will almost certainly be a neutral conditioning strain that doesn't floculate. Probably a lager yeast. White Labs 400 can give reasonable results, but will throw a lot of banana if pitched low or fermented warm.
