It looks like my 1st brew is a flop, no fizz at all, dead flat, just a medium head when poured but gone in a minute, cracked four bottles and all are the same, any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?

history of brew,
bought Brew Cellar Kit from LHBS and used what was in the box, Aussie Lager tin & packet of dextrose,
did a lot of washing, cleaning, sanitizing everything in sight.
pitched kit yeast @ 24.0
SG 1040
2wks in FV, every time I looked temp was 18-20
FG 1010 checked over 3 days.
Bottled into PET 750 & couple of Grolsh flip tops, 2 drops in 750, 1.5 drops in 500 all after filling.

Bottled on 10th Oct., stored under the bed in spare bedroom.
opened the first on 30th Oct, second 2nd Nov, third 7th Nov and this evening I opened one of the fliptops, it popped just like a bought one but the same as all the others. All were placed in fridge 48hrs before opening

just a bit disappointed, wasn't expecting the worlds best, just something drinkable while learning as I go along.

don't like flat beer, tastes ok but the lack of bubbles spoil it and the pleasure I think.

Try giving them a bit longer in the bottle at a warmish temperature mate. Two carb drops in 750ml should give you plenty of fizz.

Your beer is actually carbonated. Hold some in your mouth and it will prick your tongue.

If you work out how to make a tin and kg of dex look like its carbonated and hold a head for more than a second, let us know, because I can't.
You could cheat and get some Headmaster glasses.

Your best bet for next time will be to try any or all of the following.

- Sub some of the dex for dry malt, maybe 250-500g.
- Sub some of the dex for maltodextrin, 250g max.
- Steep a couple of hundred grams of specialty grain, ie Crystal.
- Introduce some fresh hops.

Happy Brewing

Just use a brew enhancer - one with malt innit.
All the other things are as you can be bothered.

Malt is key to beer with body, taste and head.
We all like a bit of head.

I've moved them in to the shed , it's a bit warmer there and give them a couple of weeks, let you know how it goes

thanks
