    Dry Hopping Without Hops

On a recent hunting trip to the Flinders Ranges here in SA I learnt about wild hops that grow there. Apparently they where introduced into Outback Australia by Afghan camel drivers in the early 1800s. They typically grow in rugged rocky country. Dont know if they are suitable for brewing but...

    Improvised Grain Mills

GDay all, Got some partials in mind to do and was thinking of how to crack grain without a mill and without the tedious task of using tea towels and rolling pins etc. etc. How do you think I would go with one of those old school meat mincers that you clamp to a bench and crank by hand? I...

    Your Wife And Beer

My girl is very supportive of my hobby and will on the odd occasion actually go out of her way to pick items up for me, being a moderate beer drinker herself I do have to give regular samples though. If anything her only complaint is that I enjoy the fruits of my labor a little excessively. For...

Secondary Storage After The 6th Day

Would not worry too much mate, 27 is hot but it will still be drinkable beer I think, just maybe dont serve it up to any all grain brewers or they will rip the hell out of it Im sure, your mates will probably still love it though. As you said throw it in a secondary and if possible put it in a...

    Steeping Crystal Malt?

Hi Brewers, Can someone clarify the use of Crystal malt, I have seen lots of recipes that call for steeping / mashing when crystal malt is used. The following is taken from homebrewand beer.com Crystal malt, or caramel malt, gives a nutty flavour to copper-coloured ales, in which it is used...

    Smelly Chest Freezer

My better half has got this stuff in the past called "Vanilla Fridge Spray" or somthing like that, get it where the cleaning gear is at the supermarket, it is a cleaner and deodoriser specifically for fridges, from memory it worked quite well. Might be worth a try.

Gday all, Been kegging for a little while now and have got forced carbonating pretty much worked out, must say Im a fan of just leaving it at pour pressure for a week, all good things to those who wait. Anyway, currently have the fridge full and both my gas lines are used so I cant gas any...

    Oyster Stout Anyone Done It?

Has anyone ever done an oyster stout? I have found info on the net that says oyster stouts were only called that because they are a stout meant to compliment eating oysters. Other info I found says that you can brew with whole oysters in a batch or just oyster juice added but then I found...

    Beer Froth In The Regulator?

Hi all, Recently got into kegging, I must say its great to have a couple of taps hanging out of the drinks fridge. Now here is my concern, on my first keg (up to #3 now) I was screwing around with the pressures trying to get a good pour and managed to suck a very small amount of froth into the...
