    Cider This Weekend

What about sanitisation ? Do you boil the juice or anything ? Reason i'm asking is i just had the idea the other day to buy some good cheap apples & make a cider. & just came across this thread now. I have the exact same Juicer as Airgead.

Crystal Malt With Lemondade, Ginger Beer Or Cider?

Apparently Xylitol has the same sweetness (Gram 2 Gram) as Sugar & is 100% non-fermentable, it also has the same kind of sweetening effect as Sugar unlike Lactose. Although apparently it can have a slight laxative effect ;) . And it isn't that cheap, ($30- 2 KG, or $230- 25 KG) from...

I made 2 L or stevia extract once from dried stevia leafs. Only thing about stevia is the flavour it has can be a bit overpowering.

Calculate Fermentability Of Ginger Juice ?

Sorry for the late reply.... In that case i won't bother doing a test, 2% is bugger all sugar. I the meantime though, i worked out how to make the ULTIMATE sweet ginger beer without Kegging, crash chilling or killing the yeast. I found out that Xylitol is 100% non fermentable (By Beer...

How can i calculate the Fermentability of Ginger Juice, without actually Fermenting it ? For example, if i add 1 Litre of pure juice from ginger to 20 L of water Pitch Yeast & let it Ferment Out, how much % Alcohol will it produce ? I have a Hydrometer & also have Beersmith if it helps. Cheers

This is the best beer i have ever had, It was a 25 year old bottle of Westvleteren 12. Back then it was Brewed & Bottled at "St Bernardus" not "St Sixtus" where it is brewed now.

    Beer Not Bitter Enough

I tried another bottle today & it is really good now, The hops are noticeable now & it tastes like Hoegaarden but with a bit of a caramel finish probably from the Malted Oats. Cheers - Rupa

    Beer Not Bitter Enough

Compared to say Hoegaarden it tastes much less bitter, But as i said in my earlier post i only just primed\bottled yesterday, so maybe the sweetness from the unfermented Priming sugar has something to do with it.

    Beer Not Bitter Enough

I bottled up my Witbier yesterday & i had one bottle that was only 3/4 full which i tried today, just to preview how it will taste. There is almost no bitterness to the beer at all, These are the hops i used: Vanguard (Pellets, 5% AAU) 20g - 60min Saaz (Pellets, 3.6% AAU) 15g - 30min Saaz...

How's This Look For Witbier Recipe.

I made the brew today, all went well until disaster happened ! While i was chilling the wort with my immersion chiller the hose somehow popped off & water started going everywhere. Luckily none of the cold water went into the wort so i fixed the chiller & let it continue cooling. But about an...

How's This Look For Witbier Recipe.

I made a 1L starter this morning & will probably do the brew tomorrow. I am hoping the starter is enough to get it going, my last brew i used "Wyeast Abby Ale" (1lL starter) & it took off literally 20min after i pitched,, i will post back how it go's. ps, any recommendations on fermentation...

How's This Look For Witbier Recipe.

Ok, i might do that. I just didn't want to go too overboard with it. Is 5min too short or should i add it to the boil a bit earlier ?

How's This Look For Witbier Recipe.

I thought i would try it just to make it a bit different from the typical Witbier (Hoegarden etc...) so it should have a slightly darker color to it. I am interested to see how it will turn out. cheers guys, rupa :icon_cheers: Edit: I guess technically what i am brewing is not a WitBier, as...
