Best way to insulate this mash tun?

Hey guys, Looking at picking up this combo ( i can get into all grain for my three tier system, thinking this'll work nicely, and is a decent price range. However I'm worried it'll lose too much residual heat during the mash, and was after suggestions on how to insulate this without breaking...

    RE: New Mash Tun

Hey guys, Looking at going all grain after screwing around with partials etc. Went out and did a full brew day at 2 Brothers, so the passion is at an all time high. I have 2 pots, 1 32l (thinking will be my Boil Kettle) and a 50l (HLT). I'm aiming for around a 20l brew for the shitload of 23l...

Feedback on partial Milk Stout Recipe?

Hey guys, Bottled, carbed and drank. Must have had a bit too much boil off, ended up around 7.2% ABV, but had a really great mouthfeel, full, rounded sweet caramel flavor. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

    Stupid Question - Bottle Dregs

Hey guys, long time reader, very sporadic poster... I'm interested in harvesting some bottle dregs for some sours, and building them up to be able to pitch to a brew. What process do you use for harvesting dregs? Any particular bottles that are available here, I have a couple of 5l fermenters...

Feedback on partial Milk Stout Recipe?

Hey guys. Just looking for some educated minds to give me a bit of feedback on this recipe I'm going to brew. Will enter it in a competition locally, so just seeing what everyone says. Only a 5L batch, have a mini mash/sparging on the stove, but with extract as well. 5l batch. 0.5kg Munich...

    Tips for DME

Awesome. I might try splitting up the DME for the next batch. Any period too late to add it?

    Tips for DME

I usually add all my DME in at the start of the boil, have never done a late addition. Is it just to maximize usage and not boil of any DME?

    Tips for DME

Howdy Brewers! Any tips for working with DME? I've seen in places that caramelizjng it is possible, so at what point are you adding it to the boil? I'm steeping more and more grains with every brew, and should I add it to my steeped wort prior to ramping up the temp to boil? Any advice is...

I'm afraid I've killed the yeast

A couple of days ago I brewed a 5L batch of a choc-oatmeal stout. I had a little more work than usual, and decanted into a second fermenter (which I'll transfer to a small port barrel for aging). I had to duck off to work, and pitched the yeast quickly, the fermenters were warm, not hot, but...

    How'd these go as fermenters?

So with the square ones (may well do a Bunnings run today) you've just popped the o-ring off, glad wrapped the top and popped it back on to seal?

    How'd these go as fermenters?

    Silly question for new brewer

Fellow brewing breatheren, When reading all these amazing recipes that you all post, it has the hops timed out at 10 mins, 30 mins, 60 mins etc. Is that from the beginning of the boil? Or the end? A recipe telling me to drop Amarillo at 10 mins, is that 10 minutes into the boil, or 10 minutes...

    200-250ml bottles?

Hey guys, Still green as grass at this whole brewing thing, but figured I'd throw this one out there to smarter people than I. I'm attempting a barrel aged chocolate stout. Looking to ramp the crap out the the alcohol content, and letting it age and smooth out in the barrel. Regardless, it's...
