    Beers To Cellar

I agree with the cellar conditions comment. Whilst beer doesn't appear as sensitive to cellar conditions when compared to wine, I do think it's important to have a stable temp environment under 18 degrees. Anyway, I've had favourable cellaring experiences with Chimay Blue and Red, most...

Hey Melbourne - Slowbeer Store Opening Gigs

Hope this plug is ok. The Slowbeer store is finally up and running and we will be holding some tastings of some pretty special beers on Friday 25th Sept (inc. Nogne O Dark Horizon #2, Murays Wild Thing, Moo Brew 2008 Vintage Imperial Stout) and Friday 3rd Oct, inc Mikkeller Festival Special...

    Cloudwine Cellars

That's ok. 'Sold' as in sold to an individual that will continue to run the store as a beer and wine outlet. Next project will be Hawthorn based but should be able to provide more details in ~3 weeks.

    Cloudwine Cellars

Pretty good chances I'd say...just need a few months.........we are working on a beer specific venue that can accomodate these sort of events..........

    Cloudwine Cellars

We didn't actually close down, rather sold that store due to competing family interests. Yep Sth Melb and Brighton stores still run 250 - 300 beers each. We have a new beer project in the pipeline and will disclose more in due course. cheers

    Sydney Case Split

Guys, To provide some detail around what Cloudwine / slowbeer can do: - For stocks please take a look at www.slowbeer.com.au. You will note that quite a few beers are out of stock; this is because we are very keen to make sure stocks on any given day are accurately reflected on the web. I...

Nz Beers Coming To The Local Taphouse - On Tap

There was a time when I thought we (Cloudwine) would but family considerations etc have knocked that on the head. I get the distinct impression the Sydney market could do with a few more speciality wine / beer stores. No matter - you can always buy over the net (I'm amazed at what % of our...

Bintara [brewery Review] Good And Really Bad

Definitely Red Hill but also Murrays and I'd put 3 Ravens in the mix, albeit at a lower notch. There are a few average beers in the Red oak line-up (IMHO) but a long way from compete duds.

Bintara [brewery Review] Good And Really Bad

I'd put Dark Isle from Tassie in the same boat. Consistently churns out rubbish with the same infections year after year...........do they actually try their own beers?

Bintara [brewery Review] Good And Really Bad

Fair assessment Ben. I reckon this mob has been well below par for more than a few years.

Fish Rock Red Emperor Amber Ale

I don't think you are off the mark here...both beers well below par in my view. Comes across as a cheap contract job without much thought or love put in at all. cheers

Ta Shawn - appreciate the reply. I'll be speaking to BBD to Monday to re-order. regards

Murrays Grand Cru In Stubbies Mmmmm

Shaun, I own a number of independant wine / beer stores in Melbourne that strive to support micros. On occasion we have found regular supply of your beers to be difficult to achieve and I have to say its pretty disappointing that for the 330ml bottling of Grand Cru Murrays chose to send it all...

    Grapes In Beer?

I'm nearly certain Cantillon occasionally make a lambic utilising pinot noir but would be very difficult to find.....

    Are They Scared Of Flavour?

I own a wine and beer retail business that is fanatical about not selling mainstream products. An obvious consequence of this stance that is we tend to alienate the passer-by trade that is just looking for a 'safe choice' to drink at the restaraunt next door...... "why don't you have any...

Oh Dear .... Vb & New Wins A Choice "taste Test"

I've seen the same thing with a LC brewer. When faced with the option of buying a whole bunch of micros he had not seen / heard of (and plenty on encouragement from me to expand his horizons) he instead opted for 2 x 6-packs of LC Bright. Fair dinkum hopeless!

    Little World Beverages

I think Phil Sexton was a former owner / founder of LC? May still have a stake? Phil many have also had some early involvement in Matilda Bay.

    Scottish Chiefs Tavern

I tried all 3 beers recently and thought they were decent. They are sold under the 'What's Brewing' label. For what's its worth I posted my thoughts here. This link also further links to the brewery web site and a google map reference. No sure if you can get samples at the bar but the brewer...
