    Keg King Intertap

Hey all, I just bought 2 SS Intertaps non flow control for a new keg setup, was pretty convinced by the reading I had done that the Intertaps are pretty special for the money considering the nozzles available for them. I have read here some of you having issues with flow control taps and have...

RedX Malt - Anyone used it/got a recipe suggestion?

Oh I just bottled a Red Rye I brewed a few weeks back with Red X base at 2/3 with Rye and Melanoidin making up the rest. I used 2 NZ hops for bittering and aroma and American Wheat wyeast. Looks and smells the goods, can't wait to taste a conditioned brew. How did yours go?

    Brisbane Water for brewing

Hey, Looking to take my brewing a little further, I wanted to work out what base water chemistry I should be shooting for to optimize my brewing. Currently I don't do anything with my brisbane tap water or even measure and adjust mash pH so I was wondering If you smart fella's could give me...

BIAB techniques - some vary - which is best..?

I keep it simple with small batches, brew with less total water so you end up with less than target volume in the fermentor, kind of like always doing a Maxi BIAB, this allows an easy adjustment based on what efficiency you achieve. I use a a second fermentor and a robust mesh sieve to let the...

    Bam! first all grain (BIAB)

So after some time away, (changed jobs and got married and had honeymoon), finally get back to giving some feedback on taste of the brew, I have finished it off, didn't take long, was definitely savory, different, I enjoyed it as did the SWMBO. Pretty big fruity hop aroma and nice initial musky...

    Bam! first all grain (BIAB)

I think an IPA quantity of Centennial would be pretty nice, I like Amarillo and Centennial as a combo for a pale ale I make. Will let you know how it turns out, Just dry hopped with 40 grams of Citra a couple days ago, about to decant and crash chill. One tasting note about the samples I have...

    Diacetyl

Don't answer that, I just read the article posted above, answered all my questions and proved my above statements mostly incorrect.

    Diacetyl

No your not, your good at giving the right conditions for particular yeast strains to make it  Typically it is a by product of colder fermenting yeast ie. lager yeast, that's why we give lager yeasts a D rest. Actually can someone tell me if you ferment an ale yeast at its absolute lower...

    Diacetyl

Last time I discovered diacetyl (sample tasting) I left it in a d-rest until I could no longer taste diacetyl in the samples.

    Bam! first all grain (BIAB)

Intriguing, as a kid I would probably have loved that, having eaten a lot of dirt as a child. Might have to mash and split for 2 different boils, one with Fuggles and one with an IPA based single hop schedule,

    Bam! first all grain (BIAB)

Fuggles hey? hadn't considered it, what sort of flavours that give me?

    Bam! first all grain (BIAB)

Hey all, another first BIAB thread. Brisbane show holiday on Wednesday presented a perfect opportunity for the neighbour and I to get some equipment together and have a brew day. My plan was to do my first BIAB, had done plenty of partials and read a lot about the process so I was pretty...

    Equipment loan

Hey all, I'm just gunna throw this out there, I wanted to see if anyone can loan me a keg, co2 bottle and maybe a Pluto tap for 1 brew for my bucks weekend in Brisbane? I have a fridge and planned on kitting up to keg but the SWMBO won't release any funds before our wedding! If possible that...

    XXXX Pale Ale

I actually participated in their market research they did for this beer, they paid me to drink it and give opinions. Before I discovered craft beers, (took me a while) XXXX gold was a regular favourite. This Pale ale wasn't too dissimilar to gold just pimped up a little like what we might to...

Feedback on partial Milk Stout Recipe?

Hey just saw this, I did one last year and for what I remember I used 0.5kg of lactose in a 23l batch and it was too sweet, try dropping lactose down if you haven't already brewed it. Wasn't unpleasant you just couldn't drink too many all at once.

    BREWHOUSE STANLEY ST BRISBANE

    First partial with a bag

Anyone who is interested turned out great! Been drinking for a few months now. Had a fair whack of grass from dry hopping too long but it has mellowed nicely and is a very enjoyable brew. I recommend if you like a fruity/hoppy brew, just don't dry hop for too long.

    First partial with a bag

Sitting on final sg1010 now, tasted sample, certainly not sweet, good balance of bitterness I thinK mind you I enjoy everything from a super bitter IPA to a heavy sweet Trappist, aroma is there from the hops, not alot of fruit comes through as flavour but certainly stone fruit and citrus on the...

    First partial with a bag
