For Sale: Sight gauge WITH silicone o-rings [VIC]

Sight gauge is plastic, connected to an elbow with a 10mm diameter thread. Brand new, never used. All you need to do is drill a 10mm hole in your kettle. Sight tube is 40cm, intended to be trimmed to size. Didn't come with an o-ring so I had to buy a pack of silicone o-rings separately (heat...

    carbonation caps not working

I bought a carbonation cap recently but the connection between the gas disconnect and the cap seems to be dodgy. When I turn on the gas I can hear and feel it leaking out the side (i.e it is not going into the cap) Has anyone else had this problem? and did you solve it? When you take off the...

Gauging interest in ball lock keg bulk buy

I've seen 2nd hand ball lock corny kegs for sale on alibaba. Minimum order is 200 and they look to be genuine Pepsi/American made ones. It's around USD 24 or something per keg, plus bulk freight. So maybe USD 35 per keg total? If I figure out the final price, and it's under or around AUD 45...

Chilling a keg to serving temp in a pool?

Don't have a beer fridge yet, but have a keg ready to go. Anyone tried this? The pool would be around 10-12 deg at the moment (probably), is this alright for a pale ale? Obviously serving temperatures would differ according to individual preference, but would it affect foaming/beer line...

What do you use to increase temps of your FV safely? heat belt? light?

I use a heat belt, controlled by an STC1000, with the probe in the fermenter to get as accurate a reading as possible. My only worry is that the belt produces a lot of heat over a very small band of the fermenter's surface. Not sure if its big enough to create upwelling/circulation within the...

Where to find replacement element for buffalo / apuro 40L urn

These units have 2 elements: 1x 1800w and 1x 600w,giving a total of 2400w heating capacity. Since a short occurred (tripped the mains power!) the urn has been heating water extremely slowly, and can't bring it to a boil. I have taken the urn apart and there's no problem with the thermostat or...

    WANTED: Melbourne, CO2 cylinders

Hey, I'm looking for a CO2 cylinder so I can get into kegging. 2.6kg or 6kg size would be ideal as it's portable, but if you have another size for sale let me know. I also need a regulator so if you have one of those going I'll take it with the cylinder.

What's the deal with cider secondary fermentation?

I have 21L of woolworths brand apple-juice currently doing some nice bubbling away So I've been doing some googling and some aussiehomebrewering and have come to the understanding that letting cider sit in a PLASTIC secondary fermenter for longer than ~6months is not ideal. Can anyone comment...
