    Whats In The Glass

Sierra Nevada 2012 Hoptimum, I paid $26 for a four-pack. 100 IBU's they reckon. It's pretty frickin hoppy! And quite chewy too. There's a real hop spiciness that I reckon blends nicely with the alcohol warmth. It's pretty intense, loving it!

    2012 Hop Plantations

the 'A' in AHB is for Aussie - not Alberta. Don't brag just because your grow-op comes in 6 months early(or late). How's about mowing your lawn, eh hippy?!?

    Distressing But Necessary Question......

A good challenge indeed. You might want to start now to key in your recipe & process so you can get some great batches out for Sep...best. As for OP - definitely the Coopers Mild. Is it just me or does Coopers 62 taste like one of your forgettable homebrews? I would rather drink VB which is...

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

I made a few of these in 2010. I just bought a 4L bottle of water and used that as the brewing water and the fermentation vessel with glad wrap and a rubber band on top - worked great! I did a side-by-side with baker's yeast and US-05. The US-05 settled out better so was easier to rack and...

Carboy's Or Fermenting Buckets? Why Use One Over The Other? Carboy

Plastic is porous, glass carboys are not. Air (and therefor oxygen) permeates plastic. Plastic scratches easier than glass. Bacteria like Brett- or Pedio- can live inside those scratches, or even in the pores of the plastic. So glass is easier to sanitize. Obviously there are logistical...

What Is Everyone Brewing For Christmas?

Wit for when it's hot, Irish Red for when it's not, IIPA because I really enjoy it and a Raspberry Trippel for dessert. Should be a very merry xmas.

    Asahi Super Dry.

Asahi is a great beer, delicate not "watery". I really like what rice can add to a Pale Lager though I much prefer Asahi to Sapporo and I don't care for Bud at all - it's like sex on the beach. I also use an esky with braided hose as my mash tun. I make a rice lager as my house brew and when...

    Braumeister Fail

Quite protective Silo Ted (once you read the outcome)...is that just because Grain and Grape isn't Ross at Craftbrewer...who's also a reputable, trusted dealer who enjoys a lot of online orders..? No affiliation. I have spent money with both both G&G and CB (as well as my LHBS) and have...

    Filtering - The Real Cost?

OK I'm not going to pretend I've never plugged Fattie Boom Bah but generally I'd rather not be. I have now bent all of my keg dip tubes to draw from about 3-5cm above the keg floor. I don't like cloudy beer unless it's Wit or Weizen and even then I don't want half a glass of yeast. With any...

    Whats In The Glass

Wow, looks great and sounds intriguing. What does hibiscus taste like? Also why the dex into cube...carbonation in cube?

    Weihenstephan Hefe Clone

I have also been working towards emulating the nice spiciness of the Weihenstephan and Franziskaner Hefe. The 3068 does very well at this when pitched cold (14C) and fermented cool (17C). Warmer temps and small pitches will result in more banana flavour which I don't really like. As for my...

Move To All Grain For Thirty Bucks

I'm not sure if it's your misogynistic comments, your homosexual drill bit fantasies or your blatant disregard for the OP's inclusive MO but you've completely missed the point. You've been so vocal about it that I feel I have to say something and can't help that I hope you choke on something...

    First Ag Finally

if you like bananas (not me) If going for a Hefe I'd use 3068 pitched low for spicy clove character, your recipe and high mash temp should ensure a nice Hefe. But...sounds more like American wheat territory, maybe keep it simple and try a neutral yeast - if done well you could end up with...
