    Harsh Bitterness - Why?

    I would check your mash pH and the pH of your sparge water. My experience with full volume mashes is that the ph does not drop enough and sparge pH is just as important as your sparge temp to prevent picking up astringency from your grain husks- Cheers

    You are right about keeping it simple, but I am way past that. Just having fun, making beer and tinkering around, my set up is a two vessel gas fired Rims, the bag is a convenient way to mash. :icon_cheers:

    Hi, Brewed a Saison yesterday and pitched a 3711 at 20C late Sunday afternoon, its is bubbling away nicely. My plan is to ramp the the temp up 2C per day to 24C and hold for two weeks or longer, till my FG gets to 1.010 or lower. SG was 1.050 any feedback from 3711 users or anybody else would...
