    Drew's Brew's Bar Upgrade

Got a coat of clear polyurethane on it just 15mins ago. The timber seems quite dry, sucking the poly in very quickly. I think 3 coats will be required. Drew

    Drew's Brew's Bar Upgrade

I was on the Craftbrewer site not long ago and looked at the foot rails. I think I would go Chrome and S/S over the brass. $400 to the door isn't to bad I think but have other things to do first.

    Drew's Brew's Bar Upgrade

Thanks mate. I actually found the idea of MDF with a thinner board on top from this website. I wasn't keen on selling my first born to put a fat slab of timber on the top. Brewers are such crafty people.

    Drew's Brew's Bar Upgrade

Found a clear coat that is used on decking so is really hard wearing. I have some sanding to do tomorrow and hopefully the first coat on tomorrow night. I chose to glue and clamp because I wanted it as clean finish as I could. I haven't posted a pic of the front of the bar yet but that is...

    Drew's Brew's Bar Upgrade

So it has come time to upgrade my bar top. When we had the house built 3 years ago we skimped on the top as I was unsure what I was going to do with it at the time. I didn't take a photo before I started demolition but you could imagine a 200mm capping on the bricks the same colour as the bar...

    Life Expectancy And Alcohol

Further to note is that having a DUI charge is bag for your health. Lucky I have never been caught, it could cost me 3 years off my life.

    Life Expectancy And Alcohol

Times your weight in Kg by 2.2 to get pounds and try again. Mine said 29 the first time and I am 30 early next year HAHA. I wonder how many years not wearing a seat belt takes off? Depends if you are in a crash I guess. Not going to see 70 I am affraid, a lowly 68 for me. 69 if I cut back a...

    Skimming The Kettle

Best description I have ever read. I am a scruncher and I don't skim either. Really because I can't be bothered, folding and skimming that is. After boiling and cooling with my heat exchanger I leave the wort covered for up to an hour to let the crud settle to the bottom. Crystal clear wort to...

    Ss Tig Welding

Black, is it sooty like carbon on you exhaust or a black stain that can only be removed by scrubbing? Black/Blue/Purple heat marks are left even on very neat welds, nothing you can do about it except polish or pickle them. Black soot is caused when you accidentally dip the electrode in the pool...

Got a picture/make and a price handy there Slampt? I'm a busted arse sheety, left the game 7 years ago but would love to build myself a brewery from the ground up. Would like to know what model you have and how you think it rates (after some practice  ) Bits that I do remember...

    The Kidney Slapper

What grain are you mashing for 60mins? The Caramunich on its own won't require a mash merely a steep at ~60'C for 15-20 mins.

Perth Report: Too Much Salt Found In Tap Water

As said toadskin, to use Rain Water for K&K you will need to boil it first. Using it in All Grain it gets boiled anyway so I never bother pre-boiling it. If you did boil and use rain water or go to RO water, I would start with 1g each of Gypsum, Salt and Chalk per 10L of water for an all round...

Urgent: Need 150g Amarillo Hops Perth.

Could drop Jimboley, James from the once magical "Brews 2 You" a line and see if he has anything left. His phone number is at the bottom but I am unsure whether it is still connected. Would Cascade work for your brew? I see he has some left. Drew

Perth Report: Too Much Salt Found In Tap Water

    What Went Wrong? Bohemian Pilsner

Definitely a good idea tcapach. I have a plate chiller so pitch on brew day but the heat exchanger doesn't get me down to 10'C more like 25'C. When doing lagers I cool the wort into my fermenters then put it into the fermenting fridge set to 6-8'C. I brew in the mornings so wort is in the fridge...
