    Ag = Easier Than Kits?

    I was thinking "...yeah kits where easier, it was just tin, sugar, water, mix, yeast, & ferment" ... but now reading your post and remembering the clumps of DME & over-temp wort that needed to cool before pitching yeast ... yes it was actually more stressful! :lol: Now with AG brew days are...

    RecipeDB - Little Creatures Bright Ale Clone

    Just gave a couple of workmates each a "sample" glass of my first attempt at this recipe & received very favourable comments ... including "...if this was on tap at my local I would park myself at the bar in front of the tap" & "you should bottle this and get them to sell it here" (pointing to...

    Never Ever Again With Us-05/1056

    You have grouped Wyeast 1056 with Saf US-05 ... are they really that similar? I have just started using liquid yeast with my last two brews & both have been 1056 ... where previously I would have used US-05 ... and both brews are based on your Bright Ale clone with the second brew substituting...

    Kettle Stand

    Is that a lead balancing weight on the rim? (top left of pic) If so, you might consider removing it before it melts and drips molten lead onto your floor... or foot!

    Did Not Achieve Ideal Mach Temp - Reduce Hop Additions?

    I only slightly modified the Hops adds - the 45 min stayed the same, 20 min I reduced the Saaz to 15g, 0 min I reduced the Amarillo to 10g, and the Saaz ended up being about 12g. Final volume ended up being 20 Litres in the fermenter, at 1.048 ... fairly different result to last weeks 1.052 in...

    Did Not Achieve Ideal Mach Temp - Reduce Hop Additions?

    Hi All, My mash strike temp was not as high as I had intended it to be (66c) ... it ended up being about 63c after I had stirred the mash in. I did quickly heat up another 5 litres to about 75c & add it - but had to drain 5 litres from mash tun in order to fit it in. I didn't want to let more...

    Threads On Sodastream Bottles Changed?

    That sounds ridiculous as it would lead to busting the top or the bottle, or both. Does it just not screw on at all? If it does screw on, does it hold any pressure when you try and gas the bottle? Is there any difference between a sodastream bottle thread & a PET bottle thread? (or are they...

    2011 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hops!

    I have had one of each of Smurtos POR & Goldings in potting soil in 20x20cm square pots under the back deck since delivery back in May - kept moist & sugarcane mulch on top. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the POR poking up a sprout, so last weekend I planted it in the raised bed that I had...

    My First Mash Tun

    Well after 2 weeks in the fermenter I filled up a 20L cube with hot water from the tap (approx 60c) and stuck it next to the fermenter with a sleeping bag over the top ... this was my attempt at a diacetyl rest as the ambient temp in my garage is around 10-12c ... then a week later (2 days ago...
