    3 Month Old Slurry

Make up a starter if it tastes and smells good pitch it. I know this is not the ideal method but what i do is after primary fermentation has finished i use the WL vial and scoop up enough trub to fill the vial to the brim i then store the vials in the fridge and when i need to use them i make up...

    Killer Moths

I found a bee at the bottom of my secondary once and after losing around 120litres of beer to subsequent infections, its nothing to laugh at. I swear this bee had some sort of super wild yeast that wouldnt die. I hope your moth infection doesnt turn out the same.

    Decoction Woes

Thanks for the tips Ray. All valid points, i dont know what my exact brewhouse efficiency is and i was way off my FG mark! I think i'll leave decoctions till i know my brewery a bit better. Cheers, Hopsta

    Decoction Woes

Yeh firstly i gave it a protien rest for 35mins at 50*C then i went through my decoction and added it back to the mash tun and rested it at 68*c for 45mins. Im looking forward to the final product should go down well in the warmer weather. :chug:

    Decoction Woes

I brewed a belgian blonde today using wyermann bohemian pilsner malt and some wheat malt. I did a bit of research here on the bohemian pilsner malt and decided it would probably be best if i did a decoction. So i thought as its my first time (and only my 4th AG brew) i'd just do a single...

    Would You Pitch It?

Well from you say it looks like this will be the first viable starter i've had without a krausen. I always thought they had to have krausen to work  , i'll take comfort in the fact its happened to to you guys before without any negative effects on the brew. Thanks for that, Cheers...

    Would You Pitch It?

Yeh i can see yeast at the bottom of the vessel. I boiled roughly 1 cup of light dry extract in about 750ml of water. Im just paranoid of infections when i see odd fermentation behaviour i think the worst.

    Would You Pitch It?

I have a WLP570 Belgian Golden Ale starter on at the moment, i made it monday night. Tuesday morning it had a little krausen and by this morning the krausen has gone i tasted it and its still very sweet. The airlock is bubbling and i can see tiny bubbles rising up through the wort but they pop...
