Chrome plating completely gone from inside of taps

From a quick net search- "A solution of two parts white vinegar to one part hydrogen peroxide (common 3% solution) will remove tarnish and surface lead from brass parts when they are soaked for 5-10 minutes at room temperature. The brass will turn a buttery yellow colour as it is cleaned".

    Effects of chlorine in mash

Soooo, which formula is it? 2 different ones here!

    Yeast Starter

I have been using trub remains for next brew starters for ages, works well. Instead of tipping all the left over trub down the drain, put some in a sterile bottle or jar, gunk and all, then put it in the fridge and forget about it till next brew. The trub settles down and you get about 3/4...

Blichmann BrewEasy Tower of Power LTE wiring

The pics arn't real clear, but in AC, Neutral is the common to all phases from the same generator and can be looped around or use a buss bar, the Live wire is routed to the ssr to be switched (Black in this case) by the ssr, and routed to the load (output plug). My thoughts on this from what I...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

The only info on the Digiboil is what I sent in post #23 and this one of the ID sticker on the side. I bought my unit from the local HB shop Brewmart, Bayswater, WA, and I can't find the receipt, but it was April 26th 2019 from my bank statement records. I could see Neil from Brewmart I suppose...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

It would be nice to get another response from KL about this!

Gas Burner - Have I bought a dud?

Ah yes, you have to be careful you don't wobble with small drill bits..... This one from Snowys is better priced, on special too!

Gas Burner - Have I bought a dud?

I have an old one of those 3 ring burners and it brings a 50L keg size up to boil ok. I have gone to electric now, but still have it as a back up in case electricity goes out. I did clean each jet hole out with a drill bit, not enlarged them though because of rust and crud build up. It is...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

Usually that is the case, but it looks like the PCB board is managing and distributing the active and so just needs the Neutral to turn on the system, so in this case the main switch is a Neutral circuit breaker, and therefore the switch light needs an active to complete its own little circuit...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

I have rearranged the wiring to what I think it should have been for Active Element Switching. Use at your own risk, if your not sure, get a sparky to check it. Perhaps KL can verify the wiring from the diagram!

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

Think I'll be changing my wiring to a safer arrangement!

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

Re original wiring, is this practice within AUS/NZ code?

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

OK, I can see what you've done, presume the active is connected straight to the SSR and looped to the 2nd SSR? Hard to see with heat sleeves on the wires! So what do think about the original wiring arrangement then? Nice pump install as well, thinking of doing that myself.

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

By the look of your wiring, it still is Neutral switched, and you bypassed the thermo cut out disc as well, fire hazard there, not good! You really ought to get a sparky to look at that. BTW, that thermo cut out disc is only 10A, so to have full power channelled through, it needs to be at least...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

Yes I've been using it regularly for over a year or so. Neutral switching will make the unit work the same, but makes it potentially unsafe if something goes wrong, like the whole kettle could become live, but then the earth wire should take it to ground and flip your RCD, provided that's...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

No, because I wanted to find out if other digiboils/brewzillas are wired the same, or is mine a one off! This is potentially a serious issue.

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

Hi Cedric, yes the black wire is connected to the Live wire (Brown) that is on the 2nd terminal from the left, and yes it goes to the bridged side of the elements. The incoming power supply Neutral wire (Blue) is attached to the 3rd terminal from left. The 4 PCB markings are (from left to right)...

    Dodgy Digiboil Wiring?

I decided to have a look at the the wiring in my 65L Digiboil because I'm thinking about modifying for CraftbeerPi3 or simple PID control and while studying the wiring logic, discovered something that I find puzzling and potentially dangerous. To me, this circuitry is neutral switching of the...

Best Hop varieties for Perth home-grower?

Hi beergee, I should be able to keep em going until then for you. Actually, I have just found out that what I have now is probably a mix of Columbus and Willemett, no way to know now as all the rhizomes have been mixed up because I thought they were all Columbus. You may be able to spot the...
