The Cubical - for want of a better name

Yep that's what I mean. Found an old freezer basket which holds it all up the right (wrong) way, so the lid is being cleaned now and will try on the batch in the fridge. I suspect the handle may be a problem, but only one way to find out. in theory i should be able to no chill in the cube...

The Cubical - for want of a better name

Have another cube of about 6 litres of an English Bitter fermented out - I'll swap out the lids and get the cold crash going, see how it performs ** edit - after I build the stand of course :)

The Cubical - for want of a better name

I've been wondering for a while about using cubes as fermenters - which I already do - but upside down, with a valve in the lid for removing and saving the yeast cake, while the original valve is open with a blow off tube attached. had some time, so I built it, looking forward to giving it a crack.

    Hop Oil Candy Carb drops

Ahoy Thought I may making my own carbonation drops infused with hop oil - before I embark on this labour intensive experiment with dubious outcomes, I thought I'd see if someone had paved the way before me. I calc for 2.4 vol CO2 after 18C ferment, I'll need 2g sugar per drop for a 330ml...

    Staged ferment - no starter

So I was wondering a thing which certainly has been wondered before me... If I am brewing a 20 litre batch, and ideal pitch rate is twice the cell count of a standard wyeast smacker, what would be the harm in no chilling the brew in two containers - fermenting 10 litres for a few days with the...

BEERFEST 2015 comp moves to the Royal George Hotel in Kyneton

Not much within walking staggering distance I'd imagine - there's the Kyneton Caravan Park, bit of a hike when full of the good stuff, but easily possible

    Porter doesn't fully carb

are you keeping the bottles warm? if they are outside, or in a cold part of the house, carbonation will take longer.

    COOPERS CARB DROPS AND VOLUMES

I prime using a syringe. Made this spreadsheet a while back to solve the problem of different bottle sizes without having to bulk prime - which was giving me uneven priming due to unmixed sugar, not to mention the questionable accuracy of bucket volume markings. Anyway, spreadsheet and a...
