Temperature fluctuation - Effects on beer

Hey mate there are ways of cooling without a fridge. I've used a system before that people on this forum have talked about/used, it's similar to what the yanks call 'swamp cooling' or something along those lines. You sit a fermenter in cool water and drape a towel over it, making sure one end...

BIAB recipe. What do you guys think/suggestions?

Hey mate in regards to info on ingredients, try searching for threads about each malt i.e. searching for 'light crystal' or 'vienna malt' and you'll pretty quickly get an idea on how guys tend to use the different malts in recipes, at what %s, etc. Also check out the other big online...

    biab/ milling / efficiency help

Hey mate Trawling through the AHB threads here on grain for BIAB you'll come across guys who are completely fine with normal or standard milled grain and get good efficiency yet at the same time others who struggle and get better results purely from using more finely milled stuff. With all...

C'mon Straya - you know you want one.

Wow I've never heard of these before. $6k huh? I thought a BM was out of my league... I'm guessing whoever buys a WW doesn't have 'value' as the no.1 reason for purchasing on their list (probably doesn't even come into the top 5). It's something that they can use to make some beer at home...

    20 / 25 L cubes

Following on with the brewtoad option, I use Brewmate for calculating/scaling recipes. I brew 10-12L batches at the moment and with Brewmate I just bung the recipe in and at the volume the recipe calls for, then once the grain bill, hop schedule, etc is in I just alter the volume tab and it...

Miserable efficiency making it hard to follow recipes!

If you've got the mash tun space then I'd give this a go first. 5kg into 12L sounds really low. Correct me if I'm wrong but even with a 3L sparge ~20L sounds on the conservative side for full(ish) volume BIAB? Other steps you could try are a longer mash (90min instead of 60) and more/better...

Nostalgia (the beers we left behind)

I remember Monteith's as a decent draught beer. Off tap in Greymouth NZ it was malty with easy drinking bitterness and aroma. Very easy to drink 1 or 4. Definitely a different drink now.

    WTB: LPG Burner & Regulator

Hey mate sorry I was a bit late with the previous reply. The spiral burner is pretty damn good with flame control on a standard low pressure BBQ reg, you can get it down to a domestic cooktop-type flame or have it turned all the way up, fair heat output and it'd do 20L batches no problems. A...

    WTB: LPG Burner & Regulator

Hey mate, Was at a commerical kitchen place that had italian spiral burners for around $90-100 if you're still after a LPG burner? Don't think the reg was inlcuded though.

    LPG reg

Hi all, I can source one of these LPG regs for free (www.boc.com.au/shop/en/au-boc-industrial-store/regulators/lpg-regulators/magmate-flame-lpg-regulator) and can have the hoses, etc fitted up by a mate. Would this be safe to use on a nasa or spiral as long as it's kept dialed down under...
