    No Rinse Sanitisers

As in just make the new brew with all that foam in there?!?! There seems to be an awful lot in there (also in the bottles too mind you when they've been done as well).

    No Rinse Sanitisers

I have recently started using Starsan to replace the brewcraft one, mainly as i figured it would save me money, however i find that it foams up a lot and i have to rinse anyway - am i doing something wrong? i am using 1.5ml per litre as suggested. When washing my fermenter i put 3 litres of...

Is A Bottling Bucket *really* Needed?

Thanks Manticle- had a feeling that was the case, but wasn't sure if putting the sugar in first would just cause frothing whilst filling. Cheers, Hazwald

Is A Bottling Bucket *really* Needed?

Stupid question, but i have been adding the sugar after i have bottled the brew and when i used sugar rather than carb drops they all just frothed over the top. Should i put the sugar in first? Does it really make any difference (i wouldn't think so - apart from the excess frothing and...

    Starsan

So to sanitise my 30l fermenter if i use 10l of cold water with 15ml of starsan that should be ok?

    Starsan

Hello all, Well i have been using the Brewcraft no-rinse sanitiser for my first 4 brews on the bottles and fermenter, etc and i've managed to get my hands on a bottle of Starsan. From what i understand this is still a no-rinse steriliser and it will go a lot further thus allowing me more money...

    Slowly Getting Temp Down

I've had no problems either - i once had to wait about 6 hours for one to cool down as i don't have a fridge - as long as the top is covered to keep any nasties out i wouldn't think it would be a problem. Cheers, Hazwald

    Another Summer Heat Thread

Certainly was - it was a James Squire Amber ale knock off!! It's at 13 days now so fermentation should well and truely have finished so i'm happy about that. Good to know that the first 7 days is probably the most important for temp control.

    Another Summer Heat Thread

So if the fermentation is complete is it less important for temperature control? I have one in the fermenter that has been in there for 2 weeks not and i'm going to bottle it over the weekend. It has pretty much been at 20 degrees but the last few days due to Melbourne's hot weather it has...

    Fermenter In Sink

Thanks for all the suggestions - i have gone with the no-rinse sanitizer in an atomiser (I asked for a spray bottle and was met with a dumb look - when i described it i was then informed it was an atomiser i wanted!!!). Hopefully all will be fine when i go to bottle it in the next few days...

    Fermenter In Sink

Hello all, Well i'm sure i've read somethign on here before about this but i can't seem to find it in a search, so apologies if it's a repeat. I live in Melbourne and as people may know we have had some hot weather(wouldn't know it looking out there today!!). As a result i had a fermenter...

Another Can I Bottle Now Thread..

Regarding priming, does it make any difference if you prime the bottles first or if you add the priming sugar after you have put the brew in the bottle? Cheers, Hazwald

    Time In Fermenter

Thanks for that - i'll give it a try tonight when i get home. If it has been underpitched is there anything i can do to rectify it, or will it just be a case of bottle it up and chalk it up to a learning experience (I'm sure it will still be an enjoyable beer too)?
