    Suggested Brew?

Hi All, I've not brewed in around 6 months and wanted to try an all-grain BIAB brew to clean out the hops I have left: Horizon (9.1%) - 30g Pride of Ringwood (9.8%) - 40g B Saaz (7.5%) - 20g I'd imagine they would lend to a Pale Ale? If so, anyone point me in the direction of a recipe to use...

RecipeDB - Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale

I did this one the other night on a 60 minute boil. I added my first lot of hops at 40 minutes as I was no chilling. So far, so good. I came back out about 20 minutes later and the gas had ran out and being too inebriated to drive, I had to leave it be. So, it was probably only boiled for maybe...

    2010 Hop Plantations

I've got a Chinook and a Hersbrucker Hallertau which were both planted in early spring 2009. Last year got nothing from either, but this year they have both flowered to varying degrees. The Chinook is just a single bine with at a guess around 30 hop cones. They are pretty big and when I pulled a...

Don't Know How It Happened, But....

UPDATE: Just opened the cube. It fizzed when I opened it. It smells of baked beans. Even for a wheat beer, that's not a good look! She's heading down the drain!

Don't Know How It Happened, But....

Yeah, I'll try and save the yeast. I've had it on the stir plate for 24 hours now. Shall I just chill and decant the beer, then swirl with boiled/cooled water and store in a jar?

Don't Know How It Happened, But....

. No idea to be perfectly honest, first time I've made a wheat. Aside from that, all the same. I'll toss I think, not worth the frigging around

Don't Know How It Happened, But....

I did a a BIAB wheat beer a couple of weeks back and no chilled as usual. All good, squeezed all the air out and left in the shed as normal. I fired up the stir plate with a Wyeast wheat in readyness to pitch in the coming days when I noticed that my cube had taken in air. Very weird as it had...

    Cube Bitterness?

I don't have any brewing software at the moment so I'm a bit stuck!

    Cube Bitterness?

There's a recipe in the DB for a 10 minute IPA which I'm keen on having a crack at: http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum//ind...amp;recipe=1192 I was going to Pride of Ringwood for this (8.9%). How would this translate to NC given that the recipe calls for one mega addition of hops at 10...

    RecipeDB - 10 Min IPA

Sorry to sound a bit thick, but what do you mean by removing hops? As in add at flameout in a hop sock, then remove that before No Chill? Also, I saw a diagram on a US homebrew site regarding NC. It showed a 10 minute regular addition would translate as "FWH" for NC. Anyone have any experience...

    RecipeDB - 10 Min IPA

Thanks Nick, I've seen that calculator before but I can never quite figure out what the figures are for NC. For instance, it calculates I would need 136 grams for a 23 litre batch at 1060. Would I add these as a cube addition once I have flamed and whirlpooled?

    RecipeDB - 10 Min IPA

Anyone know how many Pride of Ringwood I'd need (8.9%) to do a no-chill version of this?

    Winter Brewing

I was actually thinking of getting an aquarium heater for doing brews inside (ales, etc). It never occurred to me to use it to keep a lager at around 10c. Good tip.

    Winter Brewing

The problem is my garage is exposed on one side, so ambient temp is a bit much to hope for. I think I'm gonna french press and add the saaz anyway now (thanks dr s!), around 15g. So I think i'll rack the first to a secondary fermenter and use the yeast cake for brew # 2 and put that in the...
