    Dry Hopping Advice

Hi guys, Bottled a JSGA clone over the weekend using the NT brewing fresh wort kit and dry hopped 18g amarillo 4 days before bottling. Just looking for a little advice on the dry-hopping thing, as when I did my last hydro tastings and at bottling, I could still really taste the 'green'...

    Og Help - Broken Hydrometer

Thanks Butters....Whilst I have (absolutely) no experience in brewing english beers, does that OG seem low to you? i would have thought high 40's low 50's based on prior reading..... Ben

    Og Help - Broken Hydrometer

Hi Guys, Yep, you guessed it. As I was pulling the hydro out of its case to test the OG of my latest brew, I dropped it. Not a spare to be found. I have since bought another, but it begs the question what my OG might have been. Would anyone with Beersmith be able to run the following for me...

    Best Temp Controller

Can I just add a quick +1 for the Fridgemate. If you are looking at it and it looks daunting, I am an absolute electrical novice (i.e. never wired up anything before) and I got the job done and working within the space of 2 hours over this weekend. My only advice - check and recheck everything...

    Who Carbon Filteres Brewing Water?

To be honest, I bought a tap-mount kit to use for the brew water (which I put on the main kitchen tap to circumvent the air drying issues), and I find it nothing but a PITA. It probably halves (or worse) my normal flow rate, and as such adding 20 odd litres to a kit brew is an exercise in...

Hop Additions - Help For A Newbie

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help. One additional question though - Gavo, you say that I only need to boil "half the tin in 5 litres of water, bring it to the boil stirring regularly". Does that mean that I can add the other half straight to the fermenter as normal with the can of goo? I...

Hop Additions - Help For A Newbie

Hi Guys, Sorry to ask such a basic question but have tried to find the answer myself and I just can't seem to track it down. Am putting down Dr Smurto's JSGA clone on the weekend. To refresh you all, recipe is as follows: 1 tin Coopers Sparkling ale 1 tin Coopers wheat malt extract 20g...

    Longnecks Sought

Hi Guys, Just checking to see if anyone in the greater Brissie area has surplus longnecks. Have been keeping an eye on ebay but nothing up lately. Obviously very happy to pay within reason..... Alternatively, do all manufacturers use 'single use' tallies as I've read, or are some stronger...

    Coopers Pale Ale Yeast

I know that this is a real newbie question, but what are the actual steps in culturing a yeast? Is it as simple as saving the bottom third of a stubbie and adding LDME? If so, how much LDME, and how long should you let it sit? Should you temp control it same as you would the wort? Sorry for the...

    Unexpected Fruity Lager

Thnaks guys. I was hoping that you would all say it would dissipate over time! In terms of temp, the 12-14 is the wort temp not the fridge temp. Fridge is hovering sub 10 degrees, cycling on for 15 mins every two hours. Ben

    Unexpected Fruity Lager

Hi all, Put down a Brewcraft Munich Lager on Sat 15/11, using Saflager S23 and a Hallertau Hops bag as well as 1kg Dex. OG 1035 (which seemed low to me, but unsure as I have not brewed for a few years). Have used a fridge to temp control the brew, at a relatively constant 12-14 degrees. Checked...
