This is causing some hilarity, so probably should be in the humour/ jokes section...

But there is a serious side, apparently a disaffected landholder is in dispute with regional council about a section of Ahrens Rd near Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland which is actually located on his freehold. He wants to close it permanently and is apparently frustrated with regional council, but seems to have overlooked the Land Act which has a process to follow in this instance. So over the weekend, all sorts of shenanigans took place with couple of 'closure' actions unilaterally enforced by the landholder. Oddly enough, police seem to think it is a council matter- I'd guess they're perhaps a bit out of their depth though and unfamiliar with sections of the Land Act in that state. However, the closure variously effected by Pajero, trayback, probably stolen signage, log, sheet of gyprock, wheelie bins etc is actually some hundreds of metres outside the boundary of the disputed section of Ahrens Rd.

I'm guessing the porch has a rocking chair, bag of pork scratchings, shotgun and a crate of moonshine on it. Updates as they come to hand.

Yesterday's Update.

This article is largely crap however, seems even our pollies aren't familiar with the law, but there is probably more to come over/ after the break.
