Advice appreciated: having put my back out badly by lifting a full fermenter (about 25 kg) I want to never do this again, so I must buy a pump.

What do people recommend? March?

Any thoughts on who stocks them?

Thanks,

Peter

The march is quite fine for moving liquids around the brewery. As a post fermentation pump there are probably better options. Mainly thinking of sanitation and ease or priming.

If you want to use a pump to move fermented beer I'd consider sourcing a peristaltic pump. They use a piece of tubing and are self priming. The single tube makes sanitising for transfers nice and easy and the self priming makes them easy to use. You probably want something that self primes so you can easily move liquid from where it's sitting otherwise you'll probably find yourself lifting your fermenter anyway to make priming a pump like the March easier. They aren't cheap though for one that will be large enough to be useful, but scour ebay and you might find a bargain.
