Thoughts On Carbonating Whilst Conditiong/lagering

Hi,
I was just wondering what the consensus was on carbonating beer whilst it is conditoning in kegs? Obviously some beers ie wheat beers are generally preferred fresh and carbonating straight away wouldn't be an issue. However, being primarily a Lager/ Pilsner man, would carbonating the beer in a keg whilst it is lagering have any ill effects on the beer. By the way, I carbonate with Co2.

I never done a side by side comparison BJL. I always keg my beers and they go into the keg freezer at the same pressure as the other kegs.
