Great Stuff! gotta be chuffed about that :super:

Screwy

I was kinda chuffed. Until I realised all my kegs were empty and all I had left to drink was cheap commerial beer...

Screwy, congratulations to you both. Not only your brewing regime seems to be well organized ;)

Thanks mate,

Have a Zwickel Corona lagering atm, it's for the neighbours son. He is having his 18th birthday party in Sep, looking forward to the reception from his drinking buddies. They asked if I could make them something like Corona, so I said "it just so happens, I have a recipe, from a German mate for a Corona clone". And bloody hell! it is tasting pretty good

Cheers,

Screwy

Thanks Mike, thats a honour to me :)

I presume it's without the acetylaldehyde and hop skunking though?

Manticle, that bastardized Corona clone has almost nothing in common with the original Corona beer.
Firstable it was supposed to be a real clone, but what cames out was much different in a positive sense.
Its like Viagra, firstable produced to lower blood pressure, but then distributed only because of its side effects ;)

so will you dry hop the keg with lemon slices? <_<

seriously, once I thought why not using the dried skin of lemons just for bittering.
I believe, there is no hops at all in the original Corona beer.

Anyway, I think Screwy is not going to lose hes reputation as a skilled craft brewer with that bastardized Corona clone.

Cheers

Haha you guessed right, bittered it using Horizon, and very nice it is :super: a really nice hop in anything pale, very nice in a Munich Helles.

Arbeiten sie heute morgen nicht?

It's alright mate - I have faith in both yourself and screwy's ability to be able to produce something that actually tastes good. I get to sample my first Screwtop beer in a couple of days so I can confirm then if my (very high) expectations have been met.

I also like the word 'firstable'. It may become part of my new vocabulary.

Cheers.

hahahaha...sorry, should be firstly...its time for me to come over again to Australia to learn a proper english

On a much smaller scale, all my relos (that drink beer) insist on drinking my beer only when at my place. I thought they were being polite, but when I get out the swill (which i grit my teeth when buying, just to keep the relos happy, and to keep the bottles for some real beer later)....they get all dismayed and ask me what happened to my homebrew and then ask me why do I buy beer when I make beer.....GRRRR. So yes....i dont bother buying beer anymore to keep others happy. If they dont like it, well there is plenty of scotch, rum, brandy, vodka, coke, OJ....etc

(WARNING: Brewing love is about to be shared AGAIN...yessss I know we just got over the last thread...but hey....love is grand)
I know this success is directly attributed to this site and the help you have all given me.

Congrats Screwy on 40years and a kick ass result with the homebrew!!

Never thought I'd see the day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Held a shindie for our 40th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks back, 60 odd family and friends consisting of the usual beer and cider drinkers in attendance.

Had to share this revelation with the AHB community, it this genises the beginning of a new acceptance of homebrew??? Have any others experienced this lately? would like to think this is the future of homebrew due to improvements in quality fostered by sites like AHB :super:

This seemed the most appropriate thread to follow up in...
I supplied 3 kegs for a mate's wedding on the weekend.
An APA, a pilsner and a Best Bitter.

They lasted an hour and a half.

He had a few backup cartons of James Squire, most of which was consumed but quite a few people switched to wine...
