I use a stock pot as a kettle and have just scored a CFC... now I have not yet gotten round to putting a tap on the kettle yet so I was thinking about syphoning into the CFC, trying it out today I noticed it was not straight forward... any hints?

An auto-syphon should do the trick. I also have a kettle with no tap and it works well.

Not sure how it'll work with a CFC, but can't see any reason why it wouldn't.

(Feel like I should be getting a percentage on sales now. :D )

Make sure you set it up so that gravity is your freind, if the coils of the CFC are below the level of your boiler, it should work. Had the same setup here for a while.

You need to interface with some sort of tubing that can withstand the heat and pickup from the right spot in the boiler.

Your challenge is getting the syphon started off.

As Stuster says, grab yourself an auto-syphon. They're only $18. If you have difficulty locating one immediately, then this thread has a couple of good ideas as well.

(Glad to hear that you can use it for the kettle as well Stuster - I wouldn't have been game to try.)

PP, I have an immersion chiller (still in use despite the no-chiller option), so syphon from there at cool temps anyway.

Thanks for the heads up Stuster. I had it in my brain that in some other thread you'd used it for hot wort! Must have read it straight after something on the no chiller method - idiot!
