so what your saying is, i should ferment that thing ASAP, even though i brewed it Wednesday last week, and havnt still need to make a starter from a test tube

Mmmmmm, i better pray, is that your course of action?

Last week you say? If it's not already blown up, let it ride..

Not great practice though and sooner or later it'll get ya.

Cheers

If it still tastes malty and sweet im guessing it should be right.

My big ferm fridge **** itself, and now i cant fit this wort into a normal fridge, im currently already fermenting 2 others.

I'll have to dig to find the thread, but the advice I got in this forum in relation to cubing is you can leave as long as you like unless you get a feral batch and it swells up.

I've done 4 using cubes now and still have one batch sitting in one, personally I've had no issues yet. I brewed a heap of batches and cubed when I had time off work so I could have some easy brewing for a good period.

Immediately after my cubes get emptied I hit them with a heap of hot water and throw 3-5 litres of star san in them until their next use.

3-5 liters makes sweet fa difference to 300-500ml mate, save yourself some product and cash, as long as its clean and all surfaces have been whetted with the starsan, same difference

I use the starsan for other things, it doesn't go to waste. It's just pre made when I next need some.

I generally use a few litres for cleaning bottles just makes it quicker, for the cost of about 18 cents per brew I can deal with using 3 litres.

Well just checked the cube, that was a new learning curv, infected with who knows what and brown chunks are floating around on top of the wort, DAMN!

Has the cube swollen?

it's a farmhouse, bottle it up and give it to the next swap :)

It looks just like blobs of yeast floating on top.

Not sure if I wanna waste a 1469 split and 3 weeks in the fermenting fridge to have something tasting like bum sweat.

Wild yeast is probably your biggest right, threat since sanitiser won't kill it.

I thought that was one of the differences between a general sanitiser and one for brewery use. To kill yeast. You are saying Starsan doesn't kill yeast? Interesting. Also, according to the instructions, you need to use demineralised water if you want to keep Starsan mixed for any time.

Probably break material
If the cube hasn't swollen, co2 isn't being produced, which points to no fermentation and i wouldn't think it's infected

Ferment it anyway, if there's even a shadow of a doubt. Plenty of folks have gone down this path and turned out with sometimes great beer. What have you got to waste, other than a bit of space?

My last cube had heap of late hop additions that made it look pretty funky nut looks like it was just hoy / cold break.

No cube bulge and it tuned out my best beer to date.

Pitch it :D

RightO gents, I'll tip that sucker straight onto the yeast cake of my last 1469. If it hasn't swallen in this time, It'll last another week until that ferments out.

Chur.

Once for a second 2 days ago.

I thought about that already :)
