This thread is worth a read if you are thinking of getting one. Certainly cheap thats for sure. I just lashed out on a Blichmann 14gal so not for me 7 gal is a good size for single batches, dunno about a 5gal sounds a little small to be worth the investment to me.

Just don't believe everything you read there...

Do not use that fermenter!!. Galvanized pipe for one was not meant for brewing beer or wine, it was meant to carry water which is a different PH. Plus it will cause that SS conical to rust out where the fittings meet like you wont believe.

From what I understand, galvanised steel should not be in contact with fermenting beer for long periods of time

yes, but it's not because it will cause the stainless part to corrode. Wrong way around (the less noble metal corrodes, not the more noble one)

Turns out it was a stainless bit of pipe anyway :lol:

mhhh filled mine up with water after reading all the tales of leaks and found 2
1 leak from weldless thermometer
1 leak from dump valve tap!

I might replace the tap with something more hygenic anyway I think!

OH!, I just pulled apart the bottom bit and the 90 degree bend has a ill-formed thread, no wonder it leaks!

Will contact the seller I guess.

Q
