Silicone orings

Was just wondering what do people use for silicone orings for there brew pots. Are there ones u can buy or do u make em. The ones I used I made from the silicone baking trays at kmart.

They can be brought but also made from the baking trays as you said.

I know lads that went both ways neither complained about it. I guess if you need 1 or 2 buy them, need more cut up a tray and save some cash.

Depends on how thick you need them, I have a few on my site, I recommend the flat white ones when you need some bulk.

There is hundreds of different type. Can u please post the ones u bought

For *pin lock* kegs, the outside o-ring, I found these worked OK -
They are 3mm, but I find that gives a good seal. For ball lock kegs, I think you need a smaller o-ring.
==> 17*3.1mm Food Grade Silicone Rubber O Ring
(Hmm, I assumed these were food-grade, will check).

For ball-lock, maybe you want 16mm? I don't know.

For the interior o-ring, that goes on both the dip-tube and the gas post, I am waiting on these to be delivered (so can't say 100% they're OK) -
==> 12*2.4mm Silicone O Ring

Here are my notes on o-rings:


For pipes/braumeister:

3.5mm thick cross section (1/8")
for 10mm stainless threaded rod - #204 (3/8" 9.52mm) or #205 (7/16" 11.1mm)
for 1/2" threaded pipes - # 210 (3/4" or 19mm) - tight, prob use #211 (13/16" or 20.6mm) - #210 is GREAT for replacing fermenter tap o-rings.

5.3mm thick (3/16")
for 10mm stainless threaded rod - #309 (ID 7/16" 11.1mm) (3/8" would be better, but they don't have it - 7/16 is smallest) - this is excellent for the center rod on a brau clone
for 1/2" threaded pipe - #314 (ID 3/4" or 19mm) or #315 (13/16" or 20.6mm)

I am putting together this guide for those of you who wish to replace your keg o-rings with silicone ones. You can buy them in packs of 50 from ebay. Some I this info is from other forums and some I've found out myself.

This is the size chart from the vendor I have used

Sorry if missed something bit were am I getting the 3/8* and 3/4 silicone orings from. Do I go onto that brew site and put that no in and the silicone orings come up
