I think this yeast does benefit from a little lagering.
I love s189 for the fact that it doesn't need so much time, but I think this is a better dry yeast for maltier lagers.
I don't think you need to go for months or anything, but I'd definitely recommend some time before drinking.
One of my best lagers was a bitsa made with vienna/munich/pils malt in about equal amounts and made with this yeast, and was cold conditioned for 3 weeks, I don't really have proper 'lagering' capabilities.

I'd agree that this wouldn't be my first choice for a north german pils. I use s189 because I am lazy, but none of my attempts at a jever like beer have quite made the mark of the original.
Not entirely related, but I'd love to see what you are doing clone wise, as I absolutely love that beer!
