[Mercs Own]

Anyone in Sydney had this beer? They do a Pilsner and an Ale - just wondering what the word is?

Gidday Paul, this beer brand is owned by the Mundrakoona Estate vineyard at Welby in Mittagong. Anton Bolag is the guy behind it and it is currently brewed at Mildura. Actually Stephen Nelsen has signed off on the label.

I have tried the Red Emporer Amber Ale which is a typical US style pale ale - lots of hops and not too much else. Must drop in to see Anton and find out how its all going.

Bit of scuttlebuck - Anton borrowed my mashing gear about 7 years ago to do 2 mash brews back to back for his 21st. He started at 8.00am and finished at 2.00am the following morning. At that stage he was just completing his winemakers degree at Wagga and I still remeber him returning the kit a couple of days later and commenting "there is a bit more to brewing than I thought"!

Anyway great to see he has moved into the commercial side.

Thanks Wes. Mittagong still doesnt have it's own brewery yet. How is the train station going? I always thought that would be a great spot for a brewery/cafe/accomodation! They were still doing it up when I left.
