Just went back through some past threads and came across a good run on toucan efforts. Naturally I'll give a couple of the more interesting a go. But I did notice not one of these efforts are in the "Recipes" section, which is pretty much All Grain and the odd lost Extract. Why is this so ? I assume anyone can place a recipe our is it serious stuff only ? Or is it everyone is shy ? I mean, as soon as I can make something worthwhile bragging about, I'll put smething in.
Actually the main reason I'm saying this is that if enough brewers put enough receipes and particularly interesting variations on the theme - eg toucan efforts with additional hops, quality yeasts and the tasted results (how important is that !) it will allow novices like me to expand and and eventually move into more complex brewing by continuing and advancing experimentation. What say you ?

I thought it was odd when I first started on AHB and started to think that it was really only an AG/Partial site. there are plenty of receipes for K&K/extract you just have to go looking for them.

I have started to put together a collection of K&K/Extract receipes from around the place and and have about 60-70 (not including all the brewcraft ones that are available). I was thinking of making them into a spreadsheet or something (or just a giant word document) and posting on AHB then asking it to be airlocked in K&K if there was enough interest.

There are a lot of K&K receipes out there are some are pretty stodge. So maybe if AHB want to be choosy/careful about which ones they put on the recipe site they could do so by popular vote ie tried and tested by the most people???

There's a post from a while ago, titled something along the lines of "best K+K recipes".... from memory there was a fair few pages withe heaps of recipes.

yay.. 500th post!!!!

I would love something like this!

I've been brewing coopers from the supermarket with white sugar for years... then started doing some work with Murray's Craft Brewing Co and Gough has been trying to educate me...

I'm now trying all different kits... with different blends... sometimes adding hops... got a kegorator in my office... it's all great!

But a list of K&K with variations would be brilliant! Maybe sorted by Kit... ie. 5 different recipes with Coopers Real Ale Kit. This would then allow me to get a better understanding of what different additions really do.... without the risk of wasting a kit by adding the wrong things.

Quite correct. I've found some threads on recipes and they are out there, not in one easy to access listing. So, what about it, gentlemen and ladies. Start posting your recipes for K & K variation success stories to give the great unwashed some guidance.

Found this: Best Kit and Kilo Recipes

Getting the most out of Kit brewing

Also, hope Gough doesn't mind but this is what he said to me - and it turned out brilliantly!

I had bought a Coopers Mexican Cervessa...

Ferment the beer as close to a stable 20 degrees C as you can manage (a degree or two either side is fine but try to avoid much warmer/cooler than that) it should turn out fine. If you add 30 grams of Cascade after fermentation and give it around 3-4 days to settle as cool as you can keep it (fridge if possible) and then gently transfer to your keg, you should get a good citrus aroma hit from the added hops. Measure them using your scales and store the rest as airtight as you can manage and in your freezer.

Give it a shot... easy as, no boiling etc.

Tah, found that one and good reading. But .. grouse if they were all in one section. And they were done properly, with brewing and pitching notes, fermentation lengths etc. And tasting notes. Some are just favourites and simple as kit, brew enchancer etc. Why did they turn out. Good notes gives you a chance to COMPARE .. which is what brewers want. We can't taste these brews, but we can see how things were done and trust their notes, well we might find a range of new ideas we can suit to our needs.

Trouble is, all these recipes and ideas are scattered all over the shop.

Maybe a good idea for a wiki topic?
