Just wondering what peoples thoughts are about adding some ratings and reviews to the recipe section of this forum.

- People who have made the recipe could give the beer a rating out of 10.
- The rating could show how many people have made the beer and the average rating of the beer.
- The beer could even be rated in sections like
- Is it true to style
- Mouthfeel
- Clarity
And then have an overall rating.

Anyway just throwing some thoughts out there. I am sure there will be plenty of other suggestions so lets here them.

Kabooby :)

I am assuming it would not be to much work to set up. If it is I am sorry I mentioned it.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago when researching a new recipe.

It is great that there is a way to post recipes on this forum, but I was a bit concerned trying one as there is no feedback on the recipes or rating system.

I thought about posting one of my recipes when I first started and now that I have been revising it for a while, am thankful I did not as it has improved considerably and was not a good recipe at the start.

Some type of rating system would be a great idea kabooby! :D

It woud also be a good idea to group the recipes in categories as there are a lot of them to go through to find what you are looking for.

Nice one.

I'd much prefer the search function of the site be fixed/improved before any other bells n whistles get added.

Couln't agree more Devo :beerbang:

DJR is working on the recipe section. I'm not sure how far along he is with it, but I know he was thinking about including a ratings system, and was working on grouping them, probably using the BJCP styles.

devo, I've found the search function ok recently. What have you been having difficulty finding? Do you use the advanced options? I agree it's not the best search in the world, but it's not as bad as some I have to use.

There are so many more recipes hidden throughout posts. Along with these recipes there is often a discussion of the style and critique of the recipe or guidelines.

Something to keep in mind if you are looking for a recipe for a particular style.

Getting there. Haven't done anything since i went away, as soon as i get some time i'm brewing, then in my spare time from brewing i'm putting in a rating system. I have a feature already done that creates a new thread in the recipes section for each recipe, which might be enough. The board has a rating feature but i never worked out how it works.

I feel that the search function should really be offloaded to google. I've seen other forums do so but I have nfi of the technical details behind it. it'd mean less restrictions (if i wanna search for a TLA (three letter acronym) I should be able to, less load on the servers (I assume google does the searching on their cache of the site) and generally more useful results. Admins would have to make sure that it wasnt returning labs.aussiehomebrewer.com/lo-fi/outline mode stuff though, cause that **** would just confuse the hell out of the less technical folk amongst us
