Happy Friday all. Yesterday I went to wash and prep my new kegs but didn't have a ring spanner big enough is it a inch one for the job? Going to stop off at bunnings on way home from work.

Someone should be able confirm with accuracy, but I believe my keg spanner is a 22 or 23mm job.

Cheers SJ

22mm ring spanner

Bunnings will have a 21 and a 23..... knowing bunnings

I use a 22mm ring/open spanner.
However it's handy to have a 250mm medium shifter as well because some of the posts are non standard, as I found out.

If you want a really useful additional kegging tool get yourself a BMX bike pedal spanner

It's great for prising up the keg closing assembly without busting your finger nails, then whack down vertically with the rubber end to pop the lid in and after washing, pour a kettle of boiling water in, close, shake then immediately at arm's length use one of the sharp bits on the end of the wrench to depress the beer out post and make a little fountain that scours out the dip tube.
I'd be lost without mine due to arthritic fingers. It could have been made for kegging

Thanks all will Mayb give bunnings a miss and go super cheap or a bike shop ;)

Some keg posts are slightly smaller, i think from memory 3/4", but I'm fairly certain they're all imperial sizings...

I have a 22mm and a 19mm spanner. 22mm can be a snug fit on some posts, but has always fitted... except on a few of my odd-ball cornelius posts

Got my 22mm from Super Cheap

Yep some of the kegs have smaller posts.

I use a 22mm on 3 of mine, the other one has smaller fittings for some reason and requires a 17mm ring.

We need to do one of those pinky handshakes. I also have 3, 22mm kegs and one 17mm.

Thing that sucks about the smaller ones is they don't have a star (ring spanner nut) on the gas side and a hexagon (open ended spanner nut) on the liquid side - so you can't tell at a glance.

How does a shifter go on the star shaped nut?

Ahhh, there's my family motto..

"Don't force it son, find a bigger hammer"

A small stilsons fits all.
They don't need to be really tight
