Where is the best place to get Promash from ?

I was looking at their website and see that it is available as a download or a CD and that it is also available in US homebrew shops. Does anyone stock this in Australia, if not what is the best way to get it ?

Are there any better/easier to use programs ?

It isn't a particularly large download, so just get it from http://www.promash.com/

I'm not sure about other software, sorry, as I only ever use ProMash and The Beer Recipator online calculator.

try the new AHB calculators up the top of the page
there's plenty of free brew software out there as well

(cue Sosman)

o'neill,

i think from memory that 'the jovial monk' homebrewshop in SA is a distributer. Maybe you can get the actual cd from there.
I'd just go for the download personally, and burn it yourself if you want. I think they charge you extra to have it on disk anyway.

cheers

Hi there,

There are a couple of other options: BeerSmith - this is a nice looking app, I have a copy but haven't been able to wean myself off ProMash. It appears to be a more up-to-date app. There's BeerTools which is in beta again much the same as ProMash but more recent. And there's Sosman's free tool, can't recall the name of it but search for posts by him and you'll find it. It's pretty comprehensive, written in python I think so runs on many platforms.
ProMash has become a bit of a standard but they are pretty slack, haven't seen an update for a couple of years.

I've just been using the free Promash demo and have held back on getting the full programe as I was under the impression (I could be wrong! )that they were bringing out a new and up to date release in september this year.

Cheers

I did read that they were bringing out a new version later in the year but it will cost more.
I think i'll play around with the trial version and get the full version when it's updated.
