I've seen the beer pouring machine in Japan (looks like a coffee machine) and it tilts the glass then adds the head at the end, always a perfect pour.

Nope, that's not it. I've had a few in the JAL lounge at Narita airport. Put the glass in the holder, hit the button, it tilts it 45 degrees and pours, before straightening and adding a dash of foam (head) at the end. Made Kirin taste OK

I could not score the pour for either "style" or "result", for the first robot.

Back to the drawing board,... or get a friend to pour, in exchange for homebrew (of course).

Or indeed, build a better bot (Thanks for the pix Doc...superb).
