Well the name of the thread gives it away....went to pour a glass of beer and....froth....god damn it.

I better hurry up and start some brews. I know what I am doing tonight now.

Lucky its cold now so I can start atleast without a fermenting fridge.

If ever there were a set of brewers commandments, the first would have to be "Thou shall not run out of beer" Shame on you Pok, WTF have you been doing ?

work, work, uni work and more work.

i know how you feel man, its constantly happening to me, run out, then brew a heap, think 'i should be sweet for a while now' then bang, gone again.
i am about to double my capacity from 2 kegs to 4 kegs since i read that you dont have to refrigerate the kegs, i should have realised that anyway, idiot.

Shame, Shame, Shame
You have broken the Number 1 RULE of Home Brewing...
Though Shall Make Beer

This is why I produce WAY more beer than i'm ever likely to drink...

...or maybe i prefer the brewing part more than drinking!?

Rule number 75

Never move into a sharehouse. Ive brewed more beer in the past 2 months than i have in the past 6!

Unfortuantly its all at my cost but the roomie buys the megaswill when we run out. Soon to get him brewing aswell so he can help us catch up on the days were getting low.

Ah yes, the helpful mates My mates do the same thing come over, drink all the homebrew and all at my cost. I think they feel that because you brew it yourself, then it must cost nothing? Or maybe they think they are doing you a favour by trying out your beer for you? Meh, Im happy to make more, it doesnt cost much at all Mind you, the worst are the mates that come around and drink all of that nice dark ale you made and then afterwards make a comment about not really liking dark ale that much! Or that it is "almost as good as Tooheys Old"

My test will be this saturday. My housewarming.

If I recieve a comment that me beer 'is almost as good as (insert megaswill here)' their right of access to the kegs of Cream Ale, Porter and Belgian Wit will be revoked and directed to the laundry sink of swill the housemate will probably supply. :D

Im assuming the cream ale will be the only comparable beer as most wouldnt have put their lips around a porter or a wit anyways.

I fear that frothing sound followed by gargling coming from a dry tap!

first time it happened it scared me, second time it happened I thought 'crap, I better go get another fermenter!'

Where did you read that mate? I've often wondered how I should be storing my kegs when I don't have enough fridge space...

Thought about keeping them under the house in a box or something.

Ben

you don't have to refrigerate them but don't they lose gas quickly out of the solution if they are warm ?

Only if the keg is leaking. If not the keg will keep the pressure in and the bubbles will stay in solution. Same as with bottled beer or softdrink. It doesn't go flat unless the gas is let out.

Just store them somewhere cool so they don't go off.

Pok.

Maaaaate, I had this yesterday, gave one of SWMBO's mates a lovely IPA, she enjoyed it, like, really enjoyed it, but then proceeded to tell me it sorta tastes like Speights but not really??????

SPEIGHTS?!?!?! Are you joking me???

Shame on you POK, go and buy a slab of Tooheys Red cans as punishment, no HB until you finish every single one!

Warm liquid holds less gas than cold liquid. When your kegs warm more gass will come out of solution and the headspace pressure will increase. When you cool them down again, the gas will be absorbed back into the liquid and all shall be good. Fear not, and store them wherever you can. Cooler is still better because it means less time chilling them back down and waiting to drink!

Easier way is to simply burp the kegs a few times and store them uncarbed.

As the weather warms up my excess kegs (think i have 8) will migrate from out in the bar to inside for the summer and just get cooled down and carbed up when needed.

I have 3 taps but the fridge holds 4 so the always have a cold carbed up spare ready to go.

Nice to be able to drink beer that has been conditioned for a decent length of time, as appropriate for style of course!

Are you sure. If the keg is leak free than the beer and headspace will maintain equilibrium. The gas is not going to come out of the solution if the head space is at the same pressure. As Pok says, its like bottled beer or a soft drink bottle.

Kabooby :)

{quickly googles Speights} Ahhh a NZ beer. Don't know it, never tried it but it doesn't look like you rate it too highly?

I've had the reverse. I do a kits & bits coopers Dark Ale and whenever my mates & I drink the real thing off tap at a pub they now complain that it doesn't have as much malt as mine, and how it tastes a bit watery and needs more body like my Dark Ale - all getting quite the educated beer snob palettes my buds are!

Changing the tate buds of megaswill drinkers, one dark ale at a time :D

That is well and truely an awesome effort buddy

And yeah, Speights Gold Medal Ale (apparantly they got a medal for it, maybe it was last millenium) is IMO pretty crap... But in saying that, Speights brewery does have some allright beers, but they only sell them on tap at their Ale houses, which I think is bloody stupid!

Its like, a home brewer, making K&K beers to sell to supermarkets, but having AG beers on tap at his bar?!?!?! Why would you?
