Hi guys,

Im rather new to making my own recipes. I have 70g of NZ Hallertauer flowers (6.9%). I also have Nottingham which Id like to use. Ive never used it before, and have heard mixed things about it so kinda want to try it.

I kinda want to start trying a few more single hop beers to get a taste for all their flavours. Im not too sure on the hop schedule or if Im overdoing the later additions.

I dont know what style to say it is:
Using Nottingham means its not a german pilsner. Plus probably darker
Too hoppy for a Keolsh (not that Ive tried one), plus not using koelsh yeast.
Any ideas??????

So heres my recipe. Im open to all feedback, however it looks pretty tasty to me.

It's a pale ale. :D

The additions look fine to me. It should be nice and hoppy but not too overpowering. 1g/L is a good place to start for something like this IMO.

Cheers Suster.

Als Generic Pale ale it is then.

Cheers for the feedback. I reckon it's a goer.

Im getting pretty excited to have a drink of this and I dont even have all the ingredients or the keg space. Ill have to work on freeing up my kegs, but Im sure Im up to the challenge.

Just be careful with the flowers. Two things to consider:

1) Use a hop sock if you can, as you'll have grief getting the wort out of the kettle. A good whirlpool will help, as will a false bottom or a ss gauze. However, the hop sock works best for me.

2) Allow for the hops to absorb wort.

Flowers are great, even if they require a little more effort

Yeah I know what you mean about the hops. I used them on my last batch, took me ages to get it out of the kettle. And I do no chill in a cube, so it got too cool, didnt kill the bugs and I got the most repugnant infection. It nearly threwup smelling it, but still tasted it for some stupid reason. What a waste - important lesson though.

Im thinking either hop bag or using a SS hose mesh thing that Ive got left over from my mash tun false bottom. Ive been told that therere advantages in having the hops in suspension. Might look into it. Ive got the hop bags, so if it comes to that I wont mind too much.
