HI All,

I have a few bits and bobs, I need to mash 'em over the next couple of days - any recipe suggestions? This is what I have:
  • 5kg Ale Malt
  • 300g Crystal
  • Some flaked Barley & Roasted Barley
  • Fuggles
  • Saaz
  • Cascade
  • Yeasts - US56, S04, K97, 34/70 and a Californian ale (liquid)
Thoughts? Don't want a heavy ale, although I could prob make a big arsed dark ale with the ingrediants there.

Cheers -Mike

Make an APA with the Ale & Crystal, bitter with Cascade&Fuggles and finish with Cascade, Saaz and Fuggles, ferment with the liquid Chico, keep the other dry yeasts for later and feed the roast barley to some animals. Keep to about 37IBU. Chuck in a bit of flaked barley just to use it up but don't go overboard with it.

Although you could make a stout with all the ingredients excluding Saaz you don't want a heavy ale so an APA will be the best bet besides a bitter or something strange, but then you won't be able to use up the cascade and saaz.

Mike, drop the ingredients around to my house. I'll take "care" of them for you! :chug:  :p

Thanks gents. I may have to go and have an urgent meeting this afternoon :p

Phrak, you need to call me!

Cheers - Mike

Try an amber ale...

I'd use all the cascade you have... add a bit of saaz and fuggles for complexity if you like

Don't mean to be the downer here but it's going to be easier to move that small amount of ingredients as unbrewed stuff as that whole list takes up virtually no room. It's lighter and takes up less room etc as dry ingredients. Plus you don't have to wait for it to ferment and then bottle-thus transporting a whole heap of bottled beer as well which is heavy.

But of course just brew the sucker anyway. Any of the above. I need to move soon and I have a 25kg bag of malt, 2X 30L fementers full of various specialty grains, loads of frozen hops and that's before I add in kegs, fermenters, mash tuns, brewing box of goodies, bottles etc. God I've got some crap and most of it I've already moved into storage last time so this is only half of it.

I need a full garage just to store my brew gear. Damn it.

Best of luck with the brew. You've got a few options with those ingredients.

Cheers, Justin

dude - I understand that, but I wanna brew this arvo...... this gives me an excuse! :beerbang:

I'll go the Amber Ale!

Cheers -Ike

That's what I thought, in which case you'd better brew then. :beerbang:

You've got to get it done before you move as those ingredient don't travel you know. ;) They'll be no good at the next place so to avoid wastage you need to brew with them now. Use whatever you need to get an excuse to brew. :D

Cheers, Justin
