why wouldnt you just give it a wash out get the mould off and use it?
when you put 100 deg. wort into it nothing will live through that anyway

In that case why would you even bother washin it out?

It's difficult to get inside and really scrub it, but I could one of those green pot scrubbers on the end of a stick

once you use the green scrubber you'll need to chuck it anyway

I think you'll find that although common belief is you need bleach; vinegar by itself will actually kill spores.
Some scientific references to back-up your claim would be interesting to read, especially if they were practical and useful to the situation described by the OP.
While straight undiluted vinegar can/does kill bacteria and the like, I don't think it compares to the practical usefulness of using diluted acidified bleach as a disinfectant.

Before you clean - make a brew up that you can feed to anyone you dont like - inlaws etc.

The man is obviously better at breeding mould than he is at brewing beer so perhaps he's barking up the wrong tree.
Honestly, why let it grow in the first place?

I'd do a no chill but with napisan. Boiling napisan solution, even squeeze the airspace out and put the lid on and kick it on its side then leave it for a few days and see what happens.

I vote throw the vessel. One infected brew and you'll be kicking yourself.

+1
Toss it. Cleaning plastic in my opinion is never 100% certain due to the nature of its structure. In fact even with good cleaning and practice I believe the plastic will eventually, not sure what the time frame is, be contaminated beyond use.

I now have a date on the plastic start use date and record each use against the batch of beer I make. My experience is that some plastic has lasted very many years, and others have not for one reason or another. But once I have a significant infection issue, I find it can be difficult to eliminate from the vessels and it can re-occur, so I will toss all of the plastic and not try to clean. I have not set a date when I will toss a working fermenter yet, but I intend to in time. I think it is good brewing practice and economics.

May sound over board but try losing 6 brews in a row,

Edit: Spelling

Fear.

Not much point of gettin a new one if ya can't be stuffed keepin your cubes clean.

Not much point posting on a site if ya can't read either. As stated i forgot it. That's different to can't be stuffed.

The man spends a lot of time overseas working with communities so I think forgetting to wash one plastic container is forgivable.

I think you'll find that a proportion of the bugs will live though that - probably enough to spoil a batch.
That's why autoclaves use high pressure steam (not just boiling water) in to sterilise equipment.

SNAP!

I would find an alternative use for it, if for nothing other then peace of mind.

I was suggesting that if it was the case.
I'll brush up on my reading skills just for the hell of it anyway.

Jeez, my wife just said this morning, 'no sense getting another one if you're going to forget to wash it.' So I'm copping that lecture from all sides! :D
