The Melbourne Brewers are again proud to host the British Ale competition, providing an avenue for those who love the complexity and character of real British Ales to show off their wares and determine who really brews the best.

Registering your Entry:
Register your entries online at this site (click the "Enter Now..." Button above left)
Affix the label you are given after payment to the flat side of your bottle, covering the entire label with clear tape.
Kiss the bottle for good luck.
Ensure you pay online before the closing date! All entries must have been paid for before they will be included in the judging. Entries that have been submitted
without payment won't be considered.

Submitting your Beer:
Entries must be received by 12pm on Saturday 24th May to make it into the competition.
You can submit in two ways - Drop Off physically, or Post (allowing for time in the post).

Entry Fee:
$8.00 AUD per entry

Entry Instructions:
-The number of beers any one brewer can enter is limited only by the number of styles judged in the competition - only one beer in any given Style will be accepted.
-Beers entered must have been brewed by the named brewer(s).
-Judging will take place on the day of the competition. Results will be announced at the venue immediately following the conclusion of judging, and published online shortly after.

Sponsors include The Brewer's den, Purvis cellars and Grain and Grape.

There are 3 Categories:

1.Ales -Mild, Northern English brown, Southern English Brown, Scottish 80, Irish Red.
2. Bitters- Ordinary, Best, Extra Special (ESB)
3. Muscular Tommies - English Old Ale, English Barley Wine.

Well, the British Ales comp is done and dusted for another year, and despite a few hiccups it all went pretty smoothly.

Congratulations to all those who entered, and a huge thank you to all those who made the trip our to Oscar's Tavern for the day to judge (or just be there) - if you're ever in Belgrave and looking for a great beer, drop on in and say hi to Brad & Gypsy!

Lastly, thanks to Yorg and Wolfy for making the competition work - these guys continue to put in a great effort to make local competitions thrive!
