Hi

I have tried 2 different lids, both sealing other kegs fine. I bought the keg because they said it was pressure tested. When I got the keg I put CO2 to test and thought it was OK, next day same pressure.

Other lids are sealing and lid on Keg is sealing other kegs. CO2 is gussing out the sides like crazy. Supplier suggested I use lube, but I cannot see it filling those gaps. I have tried other seals on this keg and others and only when using this keg does co2 escape... Pretty sure this was OK?

Can anyone think of of anything? I thought maybe that I had swapped lids that were slightly different, but they seem all the same and I have tried different ones as I mentioned. I thought this Keg was ok and I am pretty sure they would have not sold it like that.... I am sure if a Keg was not sealing well it would not be as obvious but I can hear and see Co2 (spraying soapy water on the lid) coming out..

Thanks

there are about 4-5 different lids on cornys.
have a look at the brand and then order the right lid. alternatively take it back and ask them to get it to seal.

Thanks - I think I must have mixed up the lids? I just put some used some cling wrap and still blowing - something really gone wrong.... it would have never been like this..?

Please pics...

I have 4 kegs, 3 with locks like image 2

I have two kegs like the ones seen here (I understand these very converted from pin locks) slightly smaller...
and 2 kegs with the posts that are at 9 and 3 o'clock and 10 and 2 o'clock.

Is the opening on each tank the same and are the lids ok for either?

try undoing the lid take it out and turning it around 180 deg and put it back in.

A couple of mine like to go in one way only. dont really know why.

Thanks - I have tried that....mmmm

but

I now think that there is only one lid that will fit this keg that I have used on another and will only go in one way, so I have 8 combinations to check...??

Do you if there is a slight difference is size of lids with the these lids that have different lock styles?

cornilius, firestone and spartan are the three original manufacturers with aeb now making them a well.iv got two kegs with the wrong lid on them and they occasionally leak. the difference is about 1cm in width.

One of my kegs has a slight bent bit on the mouth where the lid seals. Buggered if I can fix the dent but I can get it to seal by using 2 o rings with a few good dollops of lube smeared on. Maybe worth a try if all else fails.

Edit- and pressurize to 30-40 psi , then depresserize and set to serving pressure .

Yeah, I was just about to write saying.....buy some lube. You would be surprised how often that little tube works.

Buy keg lube and make sure all sealing surfaces are clean by removing the o-ring and clean all around the lid, the ring itself and under the top of the keg where the ring will touch. Apply keg lube to the o-ring and don't skimp on the grease. I have found this will eliminate most leaks I get. Next I go to a new o-ring, they are cheap enough. I like the white ones if buying new.
While o-rings seem like sealing magic they all should be suitably lubed with a grease to preform well.

I've had success in this situation by using the softer oring rather than the harder orings you typically find. That and a bit of lube, crank to 30 to get a seal then back off

If the kegs did not get damaged would think they would last foever could have been thrown to dint .

You have learnt your lesson, keg lids should stay with the corresponding keg. Don't go chopping and changing.

Keg lube does work wonders.

Other suggestions would be new O-rings (silicone ones) as suggested above and new keg lid feet (the little plastic things on the lid handle that touches the keg).

Hi I have tried 3 other lids and no seal, lids work on others... I will have to go through all lids one by one..pretty sure I have..anyhow. ta

Sometimes my kegs don't seal until they get a bit of pressure behind the lid.

You could try pulling up on the lock-handle to temporarily add extra pressure, then gassing it up (as others have suggested).
Once the back-pressure seals the lid, re-set the lock-handle.

Hi Thanks

I managed to solve (well partially I think) I have 4 kegs, I tried all the lids and only one turned around in other direction seals OK, I think it is dropping a bit of pressure, but nothing lube wont fix or add pressure then lock (as suggested).....amazing...all other lids seal all other kegs... I have marks that correspond to remind...
