Hi everyone,
Just have a query on the fermntis lager yeasts...
Can anyone recommend which out of Saflager S-23 or WB34/70 will produce a drier/crisper tpe of lager?
I have little experience with lager yeasts, having only used the S-23 before.
Thanks guys

Oh before you ask im not trying to replicate any style of lager just yet, just a broad sort of question

I think S-23 may be your safest bet seeing that 34/70 now not even listed on the fermentis site.
there was a topic a few weeks back that said 34/70 was not going to be packaged here in oz but package os

I have had no problem sourcing W34/70 or S-23.
Our sponsor have it still online as well.

I have tried both.
W34/70 is very neutral. Pitch 2 packets or make a starter it gives great dry results if you have a very dexterous wort.

S-23 is gives a more estery flavour profile according to fermentis.
My pallet picks it up as slightly fruitier but extenuates more bitterness too.

I haven't tried exactly the same recipe side by side so I am not absolutely sure.

If you are Kit and kilo go for s-23 to give it more flavour profile.
W34/70 is a waste on K+K IMO
