Hi ya all

little problem

2 of my kegs won't seal at the top anymore. I had them a while no issues - they were not reconditioned.

When i put pressure on - the gas escapes past the main lid seal. :( I figure the rubber has become hard and wont create a seal - no big deal - but its not like the seal is actually brittle or cracked

Do i just need a new o-ring or am I missing something

thanks

Before you put the lid on place the whole lid and seal in boiling water for a few minutes then place the lid on the keg asap and apply gas pressure.Should see you right. Also mark the direction the lid goes on so you can replace in the same direction next time.

G'day Lou,
The seals are as cheap as chips and available from your local HBS or via one of our lovely sponsors so it's worth your while in giving that a shot. Some of us have also had success in putting a smear of food grade lube (something like this)on the o-ring.
Cheers

Keg I got must have had a bit of rough handling and the oval opening was not as oval as the lid. Maybe just check that the lid sits in there neat with a consistent gap all the way round. If not it may require some panelbeating !
As Doogie ' master of nodes' chap mentioned, seal kits are cheap. O-rings need to be round to work, they can take 'set' and start looking oval, then basically they're stuffed.

Edit: Post 1100...yay for me :D

:D :D :D

OK Back on topic, as Ross suggested the lube works great on the disconnects. The O rings should have a much better life and hopefully reduce empty Co2 bottles and pools of beer in the bottom of fridges .
Cheers
