Dragging up an older thread, just because I am right into brewing lagers at the moment and found this read http://allaboutbeer.com/secrets-czech-brewing/

A good read, and, given the BJCP standards on Czech Pilsner, inclusion of a caramel malt would certainly seem to blow the style....but, there you have it, the variety in the style is much more diverse in the originating country.
